Are you using midi for the melody? Sounds like a latency issue. Is it half a beat late compared to the other tracks or playing back half a beat late to the on screen display?
Step-entered the melody, so it's a MIDI track. The melody is a half-beat late in contrast to the other tracks. It looks fine in the notation window, but sounds like a bad nightclub singer.

Yeah, that one looks fine. What does the Audio window in the same area look like?
Using MME or ASIO? It shouldn't matter really for step entered MIDI (more for real time playing). But may be worth looking at.
The only other thing I can think of is to right click the track and check the Port. It is possible to force a track to another Port in RB (if I remember correctly). And that track's Port *may not be using the VST/DXi synth shown in your image.
