The above command is in Stylemaker and is supposed to allow you to change each track volume for the specific style but it doesn't seem to make any difference whether this is selected or not. You can change each track volume in the mixer regardless of whether this box is ticked in the Stylemaker. What am I missing?
Thanks
Tony

Take a look at your Options, Preferences, Overrides.

That setting "Allow volume changes with style" is not really used anymore. You should leave it unchecked and set to 90. Instead, click the [MORE] button in that dialog, and use the dB offset setting. This works for both audio and MIDI tracks. Select the track from the drop-down, and then set the dB offset you want.

Then why is it there?

It is things like this that can make BiaB extremely frustrating.

My goal this weekend is to move just enough each day so that no one pokes me to see if I'm dead or not.

Does that mean it has no effect?

Does it only apply to MIDI-based styles?

I agree. If it's a legacy or redundant feature that doesn't function now, or has been superseded, then it should be removed from the program, and also the Help and the documentation.

I'm sorry Andrew but I need help with your reply. . What is meant by "not really used anymore" Does it work or doesn't it? Also how many users are going to delve into Stylemaker just to be able to change individual track volumes for their songs? Do we really have to learn about "dB offsets"

I believe it work(ed) by sending a volume change on the track at the start of playback. There may still be a use case for it, but in general when we are making styles, we'd like to adjust the relative volumes of the tracks, and then allow the user to use Song volume changes (i.e. Mixer window) to tweak the volumes if they want to. By allowing the Style to send volume changes, we are messing up the user's ability to save their song volumes.

Looking into it further it appears to be disabled - If I watch the MIDI monitor for volume changes, they are not being sent by the style. This is almost certainly intentional and unless there is any reason I'm not aware of, we should probably remove it from the dialog. We will make a note of this, thanks.
