Memo: This is an example of fast modern jazz phrasing over a set of minor 2-5-1's. This phrase is an example of "3 over 4", meaning the time signature is 4/4, but the melody repeats its motif every 3 beats. Many modern jazz players employ this technique, especially with uptempo tunes. Take note also of the use of the melodic minor scale in bars 3-4. The riff is played in all 12 keys, through cycle of fifths.
