I'm just wondering why, when Real Tracks are being generated, the progress percentages are displayed in the title bar of BIAB and not in a pop-over box showing the standard Windows progress bars. I wouldn't mind seeing the progress for each track and the overall progress clearly indicated in a box.

Okay, okay, stop rolling your eyes. I was just wondering, and I did say it was a minor gripe!!

I just figured I'd give the software guys an easy one!

There might always be a better way of doing things, but I am fine with the way it is

Cheers,
Mike

It's even more interesting than that, since the tracks are continuing to be regenerated while the song starts playing (if you have version 2010 and the Fast Regeneration checkbox checked).

Uh, I'm gonna hafta double-check that. <embarrassed>

Especially on my comptortoise.

No, no, I'm not saying you are wrong. The countdown 'finishes' even though the internal regeneration process apparently is not finished for a bit longer.

Well, on my computer, I hafta wait until all tracks are generated before I hear anything, so I guess I don't have that FR box checked.

Worth checking (pun intended).

Could you tell me where to find it?

I swear to god last night I searched the help files, and I even RTFM!

Couldn't find it. I did see one section in the 2010 supplemental PDF file that showed a checkbox with a "fast regeneration" label, but it didn't mention in what dialog to find it!

Once again, thanks.

Opt. menu, Preferences, Real Tracks. Fifth item down on the right-hand side.

It just occurred to me that my "very minor cavil" actually led to something useful (at least for me).

So, to all those who were rolling their eyes :--P

I think you're doing extremely well for someone so new to the program.

Thanks, Matt, for saying that.

But I'll tell where I'm really weak: MIDI.

Worse than weak. Clueless is more like it. I'm so clueless, I can't even ask an intelligent question. So clueless I'm using the Microsoft wavetable synth that comes with XP Home. (Not so clueless that I think it sounds good, tho!)

I tried reading the tutorial and the manual, and my eyes spazzed and rolled back into my head. For me, DXi is something you whistle.

I was tempted to ask a dumb question, but I think I'll wait for my MIDI for Dummies book to arrive from Amazon before I do. (I will actually read it, too.)

I think you should go ahead and ask here. No MIDI book is going to help you set it up in BIAB. I use a hardware (external) synth, but many others here are expert on using the VST or Forte or other software synths, and can talk you through it easily.

Sitting right behind me (as I struggle to find the dominant-chord-for-major-chord checkbox I talked about in the other thread) is my son working on his Roland Fantom X6.

I think I should work on getting that bad boy hooked up with BIAB.

Oh yes, without a doubt. I use the Fantom XR. Same engine, just in a rack-mounted module, no keyboard. Great sounds.

Some inconvenience about rendering, but otherwise works great with BIAB. Use John Green's .PAT file, available on the Support page, to access the good sounds on the higher banks.

If you have any SRX modules installed, let me know; I've written patch map enhancements for six of them.

You'll be the first who ever hooked his son up to BiaB, Joe.

Oh, wait...apparently you mean hook up the Fantom. Even better.

It would be a stunningly good setup! You'll flip your cadenza when you hear that. You can follow simple directions to cable up and start enjoying it right away. Study MIDI details afterward.

Allis: "What do you have set as MIDI Out?"

Schnaz: "MIDI Out to son"

Allis: "Well, that's your problem, right there."

Blast you, Finley!

That's a hilarious image. I was having some lunch here, and I just blew sauer kraut all over the screen from the belly-laugh.
