I thought I would try out Sforzando today (wish I hadn't now lol) and BIAB keeps telling me it's not installed, pop ups appears with this,

"Can't find install directory, please reinstall"

"Can't find Aria install directory"

Then Aria Engine loading failed: Error is: 0x80092003

I'm using BIAB 2017 with latest update, I have reinstalled ONLY Sforzando from the 2017 PlusPack file with Windows Defender turned off and I still get the same errors, also when I start BIAB after Sforzando only install, all tiles and menu's are blank within BIAB, so I have to reinstall the latest patch to get it running properly again.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so any suggestions for putting it right.

Keith.

PS I have never installed Sforzando before I got it with BIAB.

I would try right clicking on the install file and selecting "Run as Administrator".

Thanks but it's made no difference, I'm still getting the same error messages, I'll probably try PG's support.

Thanks again, Keith

Did you load the VSTi as one of the available ones to use?

Just launch BIAB, load a MIDI only style, go to the Mixer screen and click on the Plugins tab.

Then select one of the MIDI tracks and click on the VST button. Navigate to the folder in which you installed Sforzando (it should have show you that when you installed it) and select the Sforzando VSTi DLL.

Once you do that, it's now in your list of available VST/VSTi's to use and it should find it from now on.

The Sforzando VSTi is already in my list showing it's available to use John, however when I do as you have suggested I get a pop up saying "Can't find install directory, please reinstall"

Also if I go to add a VSTi plugin I'm taken to the directory where sforzando is, which is - C:/Program Files (x86) - VstPlugins. If I click on it I get the same pop up "Can't find install directory, please reinstall".

I have BIAB installed on another Partition on my Hard Drive which is "E" and when I install BIAB and any extras and patches etc I always direct them to the E drive, I also did this when I selected to install Sforzando on it's own but obviously it's ended up in C:/, so I'm now wondering if this could the reason, do I have install BIAB to my C drive? and if this is the case what happens when you run BIAB from an external USB drive?

Keith,

Running BIAB from another partition is fine, I've done it for a decade or more.

With sforzando, it sounds like you might have conflicting installations.

I'd uninstall it. Then I'd do a search of my hard drives to see if there's an installation anywhere else and delete the folder if there is.

Once that's done, I'd re-install it and use the default paths. I've found that with VSTs and DXis it's best to let them have their way and let them go where they want to.

After that, you may need to remove the plugin from BIAB and then re-register it.

Noel

Hi Noel,

Thanks for your suggestions but I've never installed Sforzando on my PC until through BIAB 2017, it doesn't exist in Windows Uninstall, I've just removed it from within BIAB using the VST/DXi Options menu then tried to add it again and sure enough it's there but it tells me again it can't find the install directory. please reinstall.

If I click through all the error pop ups the last one I get is:

C:/Program Files (x86)VstPlugins\sforzando VST_x86.dll is not a valid VST plugin! Note that only 32 bit Plugins can be used. You can use 64 bit plugins if you have jbridge.

Incidentally I have got jbridge installed......... now starting to pull hair out!!!

For me, half the fun it getting all this stuff to work. If I just install it and it works first time, what is the fun in that?

Keep at it, it does work. And be sure to have fun. grin

I've had my share of getting stuff to work Dan, I'd rather spend my time playing now, this ones really got me stumped though

Keith,

If you can't find sforzando in "Control Panel | Programs" to do an uninstall, this means that it hasn't installed correctly.

On my system, it's there and it's called "Plogue Sforzando".

If you want to manually download and install it, it's at...

https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando/

That being said, I'd personally choose using the BIAB install to put it onto the computer. This helps ensure that MIDI Supertracks get the HiQ sounds associated with them.

Using the BIAB installer does not require you to do a full install. Simply select the option for minimum install.

Noel

Hi Keith,

What version of sforzando are you trying to install, a 32 bit or a 64 bit version.
Since BiaB and RB and 32 bit versions I would definitely install the 32 bit version. You do not need jBridge for the 32 bit version.

If you have the 64 bit version be aware of the fact that although jBridge is a great program it may not work with every program and system. I have tried to load a 32 bit plugin into a 64 bit DAW and it would not work. It did work on some other peoples system but not on mine or a few other's system.

Good luck

They should be in C:\Program Files\Plogue\sforzando\VST
sforzando VST_x64.dll
sforzando VST_x86.dll

Well I'm pleased to say I now have it working perfectly, I downloaded it from the "Plogue Sforzando" web site (Thanks Noel) and it installed with no problems at all.

All very strange because no matter how many times I installed it from the BIAB 2017 PlusPak BIAB just kept telling me it wasn't installed when it clearly was for all to see, it was even in my VSTi list! very strange.

Anyway a big thank you to all for your help and suggestions, I'm now a happy chappy......... that is of course until the next problem shows up lol.

Cheers everyone,
Keith

Welcome to my world!

All,

I am finally getting around to installing Band In a Box 2017 (having purchased it in December!).

It really has been a chore - perhaps a post for somewhere else - but, having downloaded the Sforzando file, when I launch the executable, it prompts me to place it in the following directory: C:\Program Files\PG Music Inc\Band-in-a-Box Sounds.

Is this correct? Or should I tell it to go to the bb directory (where I have already downloaded and launched 2017)?

Tom,

If you are running the PG Music executable, I imagine that it's correct. BIAB needs to have some sound-related files installed in the directory you mention. (They are there on my system.)

The sforzando program file will get installed to c:\program files\plogue\sforzando.

If you want to confirm this beyond doubt, drop an email to support@pgmusic.com and ask.

Regards,
Noel

you should have a file called

"hiq_instruments_sforzando.exe"

in your user account for download and/or in the install (installer) directory of your BIAB HD (if went that way)

It is THAT file that installs the HI-Q sounds for the soundfont player Sforzando to use

Thank you, Noel. I may just launch it and see what happens and follow up with support if there is a glitch.
