Our Father

This is a song my buddy Chris Werle and I wrote a while back, which is our take on The Lord's Prayer. I've been wanting to arrange/orchestrate this for awhile, but life and time kept putting it on the back burner. I decided to go ahead do it for the XTRA Styles #5 contest, since I found a style I really liked for it in the Styles Pak.

Style used: _EMINENT
Category: Country Christian, RealTracks and MIDI

Composer: Christopher P. Werle and John E. Ford
Registered Copyright: (c) 2012 by Christopher P. Werle and John E. Ford

I also used a lot of features from BIAB and RealBand in the process of creating the file. The song was originally done in BIAB. The trumpet and trombone parts were both created using the BIAB MIDI soloist feature. The instrumental melody part was imported into BIAB from a MIDI file which was originally created in Noteworthy Composer, then exported from there.

From there, I moved it to RealBand, where I assigned the VSTi's, applied various effects (both destructive and non-destructive) to the tracks. But it's mostly pretty straight, mainly achieved by some slicing and dicing of parts. I would have liked to have more time to work on it, but that's all I've got right now, as work is ramping up and I'm getting ready for a 2-week vacation the end of this month. Lots of non-music stuff to do.

The style I used was _EMINENT, which consists of:

  • 2937 Bass Fretless Electric
  • 1875 Mendolin, Soloist
  • 2914 Guitar, Acoustic Fingerpick
  • 1118 Guitar, Acoustic Fingerpick
  • RealDrums Americana Roots 16th

I ended up not using 1118, but I did use add the following additional RealTracks:

  • 2051 Guitar, Acoustic Fingerpick (generated on two tracks)
  • 2334 String Quartet Rhythm
  • 2291 Horn Section Rhythm

For the MIDI tracks, I used the following Kontakt based instruments:

  • Trumpet - Indiginus Blue Street Brass (1920's Trumpet 2, Lite Vibrato)
  • Trombone - Indiginus Blue Street Brass (1908 Trombone)
  • Flute melody - Auditory Labs RealFlute

Chris Werle sings the vocal part.

Enjoy!

I liked this a lot, although I think a nice fade in and the horns and strings up more to envelope the vocals like a backing singer would.

But it is a good contender for the competition.

Pleasant listen. It's always cool to hear different settings for the Our Father - it's a interesting challenge!

Looks like you started the third list with a closing tag instead of an open tag.

It's good to see Noteworthy Composer is still getting use - I've liked their method of music entry. I should contact them and see if I still have a valid license. smile

Thanks for the comments, David and BeatMaster. Third list is now fixed.

Eric at NWC should be able to tell you about your license, but you may need to upgrade to get the latest version of Noteworthy. It has a lot of user tool capabilities where you can create your own utilities (and share them) for those features not natively implemented.

Even though it has some limitations, I find it the easiest for note entry and dealing with lyrics, especially when you want to pull the lyrics out for a Word document.

I've got other notation programs, but I keep coming back to NWC. And its MIDI export has always worked nicely for MIDI import to both BIAB and RealBand.
