One of the better features of PT12 was the ability to keep several
Audio Edit windows open at once - great for comping and visualizing several vocal tracks on the screen at once; or eyeballing the integration of two or more lead tracks (my ears don't work so well anymore)

WHERE DID THIS FEATURE GO in the PT2010 upgrade???? You've reduced the functionality of PT on this feature and only added a couple of bells and whistles. IMHO

WAS THIS A MISTAKE? Some of the newer features are good - but no multiple Audio Edit windows is a real working loss IMHO . . .this diminishes the upgrade value.

Glad I kept my PT12 (12) zipped up. (no innuendo intended)

Can you restore this feature?

No joy - Ian

1 So...overall is ppa 2010 worth upgrading to ....or would it be an idea for PG to let customers download both 12 and 2010?

2 is ppa more of a redundant program anyways for most users as most of the features are in realband, and people mainly upgrade to take advantage of the tc-helicon?

Admittedly I was shocked after I downloaded the PT upgrade. For the way I use PT12, the upgrade was a step backwards - Real Band cannot do more than one Audio Edit window at a time, that is why I was slow to move to Real Band. But that is the way I work the program . . . er so to speak. At this point I wonder if other programs, like Sonar, allow multiple Audio Edit windows to be open.

The upgrade does not break the bank so I will likely run both on my computer. Some of the new features I may want to use but not at the expense of losing what works well already for me.

Still I would like to know why the PT programmers decided to dispense with such a useful option as multiple Audio Edit windows.

Hey . . . nice day today. Ian

It would be nice to have the best of both worlds. I like having the drop down box in the audio edit window to choose the track you want, but yes, having multiples open in PT12 was also a good thing.

The other thing I would like to see in the audio edit window is a STOP button next to "play selected". I know I can hit the space bar, but if I'm using the mouse, that's where my mouse is. As it is now, you have to move the mouse to the main STOP button.

You can open more than one, but it just doesn't let you open a second one for the SAME track. Try opening for a DIFFERENT track and see what happens.

Ian,

RealBand and PTW can open multiple audio edit windows (with different tracks, or the same track).

Use Window-New-Audio Edit Window (or Ctrl-F2)

The AudioEdit Window **button** currently allows only one audio edit window.
But if you hold the Control key, when you click on the Audio Edit Window button, you can get multiple ones.

PT2010 is better than PT12 in this regard. Because with PT 2010, you can also get multiple audio edit windows of the same track (do this by opening 2 audio edit windows, and changing the track using the pull down of one of them to be the same as the other one.

We will add a fly-by hint to list this so its more apparent.

Click on a 2nd track and press Ctrl-F2 and it will open an audio edit window for a 2nd track.

If using the Audio Edit Button to launch a window for a 2nd track, then make sure you hold the Ctrl key if you want a 2nd window launched. We need to add a flyby hint to make this clear.

Cool, thanks Jeff and Peter, I didn't even think about the CTRL key. So far, I like what I see, but I did post a couple of suggestions on the PowerTracks Wishlist Forum.

Peter, Jeff thanks - even a right click on the AudEdit icon stating possibilities might be an idea too.

Blushing a bit for jumping the gun - but I tried the ctrl key and had 4 different windows open using 512 RAM and it played flawlessly.

Feeling sheepish but thankful.

One other question - haven't found it in the menu yet BUT will PT2010 allow a highlighted section from one AudEdit window be dragged and dropped to the exact time in a second opened AudEdit window?

Thanks again - Ian

I wish I hadn't spent the money for PT 2010.
For what I do, it was a waste of money. I called support and everything I asked, the reply was that 2010 couldn't do it. The guy I talked to didn't know anything about midi hook-ups. I asked him why they put the midi the program if he could not answer my questions. Finally someone in BIAB forums told me what to do. I had changed keyboards and my keyboard only has in and out. The other keyboards had the through and would trigger a vocalizer. If you run into this problem, go from the computer to the midisport 2x2 to the vocalizer and the out of the midisport to your in of the keyboard. This seems to work.
