Glen Campbell has been battling Alzheimer’s disease for years, and is now in the final stages of the disease and has been moved to 24-hour care, as his doctors have determined that he is in the sixth stage of Alzheimer’s (‘severe cognitive decline”).

Campbell’s record label has released his final studio recording
called “I’m Not Gonna Miss You.”

So sad

He will always be a legend in my mind.

A sad ending to a spectacular life. Truly a legend.

"Im Not Gonna Miss You"

I'm still here, but yet I'm gone
I don't play guitar or sing my songs
They never defined who I am
The man that loves you 'til the end
You're the last person I will love
You're the last face I will recall
And best of all, I'm not gonna miss you.
Not gonna miss you.
I'm never gonna hold you like I did
Or say I love you to the kids
You're never gonna see it in my eyes
It's not gonna hurt me when you cry
I'm never gonna know what you go through
All the things I say or do
All the hurt and all the pain
One thing selfishly remains
I'm not gonna miss you
I'm not gonna miss you

Isn't it odd, that being in the sixth stage of the disease, he still is able to sing, in key, with intonation. What a terrible disease. My mother is dealing with this now...it truly is heartbreaking.

But still, what a great way to say "Good Bye". He faced the consequences of his future life and in the right moment where he still could do it, he gave a musical farewell to his loved ones.

Indeed, so sad to see this happen.

What an entertainer. What a singer and guitar player.

I have never been a country music fan but I like that song a lot. My mother has Alzheimer’s and dad has dementia so I can relate.

Also, I met Mr. Campbell while on a business trip in Pennsylvania a few years back. He was staying in the same Inn and came to the bar while I was there one night. He and his friends started playing a video trivia game and I heard them struggling with a question. I answered the question from my stool and they seemed grateful for my help. Another question came up in which they asked me and for the next 30 minutes or so I was up there playing and hobnobbing.

About an hour after he left, the bar was treated with a 10 foot sub sandwich courtesy of Mr. Campbell. Such a nice gesture from a nice gentleman.

That was my only brush with a celebrity so quite memorable to me. I wish him and his family the best.
