I am just trying to get a rough idea of what the average age of or participants would be on the forum. I truly don't know.

So, for those willing to play, what's your age?

I'll start. 50
Posted By: David Snyder Re: Age Question - 03/18/22 03:47 PM

12.

That's what everyone says.
Posted By: Jim Fogle Re: Age Question - 03/18/22 03:59 PM
71
Posted By: chulaivet1966 Re: Age Question - 03/18/22 04:02 PM
Howdy HTL....

I'm 75 in a month....an old fossil.

Oddly enough, I just finished a new song called "The Story Of Life"....somewhat a reflection of age and maybe wisdom with any luck. smile
Rhythm tracks are done so just need lead guitar and (the big challenge) vocals.

Hope all is well.
Posted By: Janice & Bud Re: Age Question - 03/18/22 04:34 PM
Three score + one decade + 6

It's less painful to look at it that way.

Pic is three years old and yep Janice is 12 years younger smile

Posted By: rharv Re: Age Question - 03/18/22 07:29 PM
I'm not 60 yet, so the median should drop a bit.
For some reason I think Dave's true age would drop it a bit also
Posted By: MarioD Re: Age Question - 03/18/22 07:56 PM
I will be 76 in April.

How I act can be another story blush

We all know he's not 12. I'm thinking half that?

David, care to clear it up? grin
Posted By: Teunis Re: Age Question - 03/18/22 09:58 PM
I’ll be 73 in about 6 weeks.

David being 12 explains his vivid imagination. I’m sure a 12 year old can imagine a totally different world. Wish I could think like a 12 year old.

Being 12 and not requiring an ID to get into adult shows now there’s a thought.

Ok, you got me Caaron.

My friends say I'm 12.

My wife says I'm six.

So I guess you are closer to the truth because she's the only who really knows me.

As a bit of a minor mathematician, I long since started changing the number base every other year. I'm now always 20 or 21, but the number base is 34.
For anyone who wants that in decimal, it's the same as 69.

I agree with that's why you have such a vivid imagination!

I have a bit of that "Oh look it's a squi...wait, how deep in the ocean can you go before you can't see the moon?" It's both a blessing and a curse at times. At least for me.

Carry on young man!

Ha! We have a number of children and I laugh when people say "they must keep you young!" After activities with them, I'm fairly certain it's had the opposite effect. I have yet to say "Ya know, I feel young again." wink

Wow, I thought I was the only one ..
Fun thing I noticed; add the digits of any multiple of 9 down until you get to a single digit.
The answer will always be nine.

9=9
18 (1+8) =9
27 (2+7 )=9
117=9 (no matter whether you add the first two, then the third or vice versa; 2+7=9, 18+1=9)
126=9 (same as above ..)
135=9
999=9

.. I think weird things, and oddly enough the above math theory makes me 4 smile
//I have no idea why I think this has any value, but I see patterns in all numbers like that

8=8
16=7
24=6
32=5
40=4
48=12=3

.. see the pattern again?
yeah I'm weird like that

It would be interesting to know the average age of the frequent contributors to the User Showcase in addition to the shall we say, elevated, ages of the old pharts who hang out here smile I do know one regular contributor to the showcase who is 40ish.

Bud
Posted By: David Snyder Re: Age Question - 03/21/22 10:05 AM
Oh, no. No, no Bud.

It think it would be MUCH more relevant to ask "how old do people SOUND" on the showcase. That is the question if you ask me.

I do my damnedest to sound like a 3 year old to bring that average age down y'all so I want to know my hard work is appreciated.

From the looks of things these days, I am going to strive harder to be 2!!

Sometimes I feel like a turtle, sometimes as a mayfly. Averaging at early 20ish. I am 43.

I see folks younger than me, that are completely burned out, and folks in their 60s-70s that just starting to live.

I'm going to pass on full disclosure, though I will say that I am apparently right at home here demographically.

Having said that: YIKES

Nothing against geezers, being one myself, but the absence of youth is startling. And by "youth" I mean "under 50".

How old are you or how old do you feel?

67 but feel 40'ish

I follow Clint Eastwood's advice...

Don't let the old man in!
Posted By: eddie1261 Re: Age Question - 03/23/22 02:08 PM
I feel every bit of my almost 71 years, but spending time in a war zone and 3 wives will age you quickly... And I am far from healthy with ailments that are the kind that get progressively worse with age.

Not ONE complaint about my life though. It has been an amazing ride.

So far!! I ain't done yet, and when it IS time to leave I will go out kicking and screaming, just like I did my whole life.

Haha, my mistake was as soon as the new year would hit I'd say I was a year older, and at some point added on some extra years when my birthday would actually hit because I made the mistake of referring to myself as older 6 months ahead of schedule and forgetting I wasn't actually that old yet. I managed to tack on an extra three years before I realized the mistake I'd made, and the only reason why I figured it out was because my sister is two years older and she just turned 30 in May last year. We all have our moments ahah. blush I think what's maybe slightly worse than that is that I round up other people's ages too and they also get confused too. It seems contagious!
Posted By: Matt Finley Re: Age Question - 03/25/22 04:41 PM
Just wait until you add 40 to that, like most of us, and see what happens.

I appreciate that, haha! Someone once told me that technically speaking when you hit your next birthday, you're actually concluding that number of rotations around the sun. So if you just "turned 30" you're not entering your 30th year, but just finished it. So maybe it wasn't so wrong of us to round up after all!

Exactly! I’ve always thought in terms of the year you are within. Although the number gets more painful to consider the older one gets smile Then there’s the time worn notion that you are only as old as you feel and that fits Janice perfectly. She looks and acts decades younger. A super positive attitude will take you a long ways!

Whilst many of us are hard of hearing we also have fading eyesight and to make it worse a degree of ignorance or we don’t wanna know. CAPS MIGHT WORK BUT MAYBE ONLY IF ITALICS WOULD ALSO HELP.

Absolutely! I fully agree. I remember growing up my neighbor was a bright ray of sunshine. She was 99 and still travelling and enjoying life until the very last moment. She was like a grandmother to me, and I was always in awe of her! Even when she got sick with cancer and beat it, she was always smiling and so positive even when we visited her in the hospital. She only passed away a few years ago, but she was the perfect role model in every way. She had the best and brightest laugh of anyone I've ever met! She never let anything keep her down, and she was the epitome of "forever young". Because of it, I definitely think she lead a full and happy life with no regrets!

Like Ember, I had a grandmother figure that amazed me.
At 80 she showed up to take my daughters to the water park in 80 degree weather .. and returned 3 hours later with a smile on her face.
I told the wife 'I hope I live long enough to pull that off'.
Since I have yet to enjoy grand children, I doubt I'll ever be able to take my great grand kids anywhere frown
Some women are amazing
