No idea what the melody was like before, but this one is beautiful.
Nice smooth production, beautiful vocals with beautiful harmonies ... I love it!

Nice write! The vocals and BGVs are the stars, and the mix let's them shine. Thought the harmonica solo was nice, and fit the style of the song really well. Some of the harmonica fills played after that did not seem to fit as well to my ears. Maybe because the vocals are so elegant and pitch perfect, and the harmonica...not so much. Might just be me. Great song, enjoyed the listen!

Hi Dan,

Lovely song! Really well written.
Seems odd to hear someone else singing one of your songs, but Ron did a fine job indeed. Love the harmonies!
Excellent production, love the way it builds as the song progresses.

Another winner!

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Dan,

This is absolutely beautiful... Ron has a great Dave Loggins vibe here. Awesome vocal.

Love the mix - sounds pro to me and perfectly supports the vocals.

This one is different than many of your others, but it has all the tasty ingredients you include in your masterpieces, Dan. Love the build, and vocals are so strong and beautifully controlled. Always inspirational, Dan. Terrific beacon song. I dig the harmonica. The mix is perfect, but I must say the song itself took all of my attention so I easily would've missed any technical anomalies.

Beautifully done, Dan.

Ron's vocals are really nice.
Nice arrangement and production. Just right.
And a good mix.

I like this.

The mix sounds good. I like the crispness and clarity in the vox and the harmonies are spot on. I liked his time synced slow vibrato. Reminiscent of Kenny Rogers' vocal control.

I like the way you weave the finger-picked guitar and the piano in this. That second verse where the piano enters... nice stereo spread with the piano on the left.

I thought the bluesy harmonica could have been left out and use something more appropriate to the overall song.... It's not a nit, just my personal taste.
I might have chosen a mandolin or maybe a steel with some tasty fills to do the back and forth with the piano.

I stopped the playback and switched to my buds halfway through so I could hear this better. It deserved something better than my cheap computer speakers.

Great message in the lyrics. Keep focused on the light.

I like the way the simple arrangement draws the listener into the song. Piano sounds lovely.

Harmony on the second verse is very effective. Simple drums work nicely.

The "Shine, Living Light" didn't work for me - there was too much competition with the harmonica at that point. It felt like the song was ready to end, but you were trying to keep the original ending and have the extended harmonica solo.

I thought the bluesy ending on the harmonica solo sounded a bit out of place.

But... that's just an opinion.

Nice song! laugh

David...thanks for your thoughts and comments...listening critically I think I agree with your insights...so...I redid the harmonica solo and tamed a bit of the growl in it....then I dropped most of it out of the outro...it's much better IMO...so thanks for your opinion...I value such comments...Dan

Hi Dan

This is superb. You are a fantastic songwriter and Ron's voice was a perfect fit for your creation.
I addition, I want to congratulate you on a stunning arrangement. Everything worked seamlessly as part of the overall.
All in all, this is strong writing and arranging, and equally strong performing wrapped up in an extremely well-crafted production
I thoroughly enjoyed my musical journey with you.

I wish you a prosperous 2024.

HI Dan and Ron

What a wonderful song! Ron's voice is perfect for your lyric and music. The mix is spot-on.

I apparently listened to the remixed version - no piano in the intro. I liked everything about it, with one exception. I would rather have heard a soft mandolin for the lead riff rather than the harmonica. I liked the harmonica in the outro, but it seemed a little out of place for the lead riff. Of course, opinions will vary, but that's how it came across to me.

Regardless, it's a wonderful song, and Ron's vocal was so good.

Happy New year to both of you - and your loved ones.

Alan & Di...thanks guys for listening and sharing your comments...yeah, I'm still not convince about the harmonica...I'll experiment with the mandolin or perhaps an acoustic guitar lead...I sure do appreciate you and everyone's thoughts...thanks again...Dan

Good song that has commercial potential.

A mellow and serene feel to the song.

Excellent producing. Ron does well with the vocal.

Hi Firesong,

Nice song, I enjoyed the lyrics and the mellow vibe.

I thought the production was nicely done, it sounds very professional. Dan's background vocals sat appropriately lower in the mix, and complemented Ron's lead vocal well.

I also liked the BIAB harmonica in the instrumental section.

Thanks for sharing!
