Aching For Always

©2011 Josie Beck All rights reserved.

Like comets streaking across the sky
Two hearts collide and burn without a trace
I thought the stars would write our names
But all i see at night is empty space
Oh I am not ashamed of crying
And I am not afraid of trying
Ohoh I still believe in love
Real love

Aching for always
Thought I could see forever in your eyes
But it was just a passing glance
Another partner for a dance
One more song we used to play
Aching for always

The dawn is burning off the fog
That rolled inside and settled on these tears
Can't build no wall to protect my heart
When I can't figure out how you got here
Oh I am not ashamed of dreaming
And I am not afraid of feeling
Ohoh I still believe in love
Real love

Ooo stuck out in the rough
Ooo Baby it's still tough
But I'm never
Never never never
Never never ever giving up on real love

Hi Josie,

Wow! This song is fantastic; a great composition! I don't know where to start with the compliments it's so good

The arrangement and production are superb. Your wonderful voice is perfectly placed in the mix and with just the right hint of reverb to make it sound intimately conversational to my ears. In addition, there's an emotional contour to your backing that shows a great deal of thought and planning; this contour supports and enhances your song incredibly well.

These lyrics are extremely tight and resonate with emotional truth. The more I learn about lyric writing, the more I realize that what some songwriters called "emotional truth" is a hard-to-define quality that makes lyrics easy to relate to and easy to imagine; it is this quality that makes the situation, characters, feelings, etc., come across as 100% real and not simply a contrived story. (I'm still tying to work out how to master this elusive quality.)

You've given me new heights to aim at now!

Best wishes with the CD. You deserved every success.

Regards,
Noel

Hi Josie!

Great job on this one, as always. I have come to expect nothing but top shelf stuff from you. And this one does not disappoint! And I think since you and Bob have been collaborating, your writing has even gotten better.

I always look forward to your postings. Keep it up, my friend!

(Tommy - Ain't that the truth! When I was growing up, my parents were always telling me to turn that racket down. Now my daughters and grandkids are always telling me to turn down. What's up with that???)
