It's been said that many people who meet online are able to initiate and even consummate intimate relations through the various social media that utilizes webcams. The couple in this song have never met, yet they share the ultimate intimacy. Overdubs are the droning chords at the beginning, and the dotted 8th delay guitar.

Cloud Dancing
November 2014

A intro - 2 measures

A D High above the harsh confusion, soaring free without a care
E A No one here to see us flying, this is only ours to share

A D Moving out in perfect rhythm, rising up into the sky
E A Freedom flies above the clouds, we soar together, sailing high

AD Dance with me in open spaces
AE Dance with me beyond the crowd
AD Rise above the noise and promise
EDA Dance with me in the clouds

AD Dance with me beyond the fences
AE Dance with me where it's allowed
AD Take my hand in free emotion
EDA Dance with me in the clouds

A - 2 measures

A D Move around me, never touching, perfect softness soars above
E A Warm desire for you surrounds me, sweetness fills the air with love

A D Vibrations trace across the sky, weaving patterns we can see
E A unmarked highway speeds us forward, crystal clear, flying free

AD Dance with me in private gardens
AE Silent music playing loud
AD Dance with me above the rumors
EDA Dance with me in the clouds

AD Dance with me in sweet surrender
AE Dance with me above the crowd
AD Say you'll fly with me forever
EDA Dance with me in the clouds

A EDA 4 measures

I really liked the intro of this song. It was an excellent mix for the vibe and style with the instruments. I think the song fit your vocal range nicely. I thought the song lost a bit of energy when the intro goes into the first verse. Re-listening, to me was your chord progression change to the A - D progression.
In your first line - "High above the harsh confusion, soaring free without a care" the energy in the vocals drop off between 'confusion' and 'soaring' which I think is due to the choice of chords. If you ever re-visit the song you may want to try that line holding the A chord the whole line. Alternate chord progression may help also. A quick trick I use sometimes when searching for a better progression is to use the auto-generate feature to create a four bar intro and that sometimes provides unusual chords I would never think of myself. It is a quick procedure to do and after auditioning the auto generated intro, just hit ctrl-z to erase it. I really enjoyed this one and think it has a lot of potential and I may be the only one here on the forum that felt the energy drop. Regardless, it is a fine song. Enjoyed my listen.

Will,

I like this one a lot - very cool George Harrison feel to it.

Like Charlie said I also like the intro.
This sounds to me like a very early seventies write.
Good work.
looking forward to hearing more.

Rob, this one was written about two months ago, though the beginning was influenced by U2's Where the Streets Have No Name

You've been busy this year making some great music, of which this is another one; thanks for sharing!

Nice song, and you've done done some nice things with the arrangements.

But... I'm with Charlie on the "drop in energy", although I'm struggling to put put my finger on it.

Anyway, nice work.

+1 here

at 1.52 the transition into the verse works well, at 0.35 I have the feeling to that it is less fluent...

Good write!

I like the word play with the word "cloud" - both joyful metaphor and online reference.

And the intro was an attention grabber for sure!

much enjoyed!

Have you ever been so pleased with a recording that you forgot to finish it? I just realized today that this song was missing guitar and horn part. Also, I improved the harmonies and added an extra bar to the end. I like it even better now.
