Our new song:

This song is a cover of 'Hogeland' from Ede Staal.
Ede is a famous singer-songwriter in the Northern part of Holland, Groningen.
His songs are in "Gronings" the native language of that region.
He died in 1986.
We are a big fan of his songs, because they have a very nostalgic feeling to them.
We know his widow and she gave us permission to record the song. She even provided us with his picture (at the end of the song).
The lyrics are about the beauty of the landscape. This is something Ede often sang about and loved.
We also live in this area, so we went out and took our camera to capture all the imagery he sang about.

The vocals are Dutch. We know y'all don't speak the language, but when watching this video you will probably get the picture smile

For those who want to see this beautiful part of Holland full screen:

I definitely got the picture. Nice simple background well produced liked the interplay of the voices.
Good video to accompany the song - always impressed with the "multimedia" side of your work.

The song takes me away to another place. The lyrics and video helped...

Another masterpiece from you guys. Enjoyed this.

Hi Rob and Anne-Marie,

This is wonderful! Its melody is very simple but impressive. I like this style.

The scenes in the video is also beautiful. I have visited the Netherlands. Almost all of my visits were to Amsterdam, but we drove through countryside a couple of times. The video reminded me of the beautiful scenes we saw through the car windows.

I do not understand Dutch but some of my colleagues were Dutch. They often talked to each other in Dutch, so its sound is familiar to me.

Apart from them, I enjoyed your vocals, song arrangement, tunes of instruments, and everything.

RnAM, your first merit is to have used the dutch to record this beautiful song. How to speak about a country otherwise than with the vernacular language ?

The RTs are subtle and the voices and the piano make the job. You play it ?

Rob and Anne-Marie I have say that this was wonderful. I love hearing you guys sing in the Gronings language and you did a great job of it. The video and the whole production was outstanding and I am sure that if Ede were alive he would say the same. Thanks for sharing

We did the same vIA Apple Airplay to the tv and hifi system. Mesmerizing. And a wonderful backstory.
We're sure his wife appreciated this tribute and we certainly did. As always you two do wonders
with both the audio and video end of your productions.

Congrats on another great one!

Hi Rob and Anne-Marie!

I listened to this quite a while ago and now again this morning. It's really well done. As I've mentioned in a number of previous posts, I really enjoy listening to songs in languages I can't understand because it allows me to hear how the music and the sound of the words flow. This flowed beautifully to my ears.

Yet another enjoyable work from your studio!

All the best,
Noel

Pretty song, and very well performed/arranged/mixed!! Vocals were superb as usual. I thought it was a very interesting musical twist in the middle from melancholy to happy. Nice job on everything! Take care. Greg
