David,
Nice playing!
Lovely melody on this ( and so many Christmas carols... always wondered why that is).
Thanks for sharing this.
Robert
Thanks Robert.
Bach first wanted to be a preacher, but said he was no good at it, so he said he resorted to music as his way of conveying his interpretation of God's love.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
I wonder if there.....is any way...there might be a connection.
Hmmmm.
I wonder if there.....is any way...there might be a connection.
Hmmmm.
Of course there is...You just proved it...
David, this is one of my all time favorite melodies since I was a kid and first started having an interest in music. Great performance! And yes, you have conveyed God's love through music. Much appreciated by me! Thanks, Torrey
Hey David,
Expertly played and also one of my favourites! Excellent work.
Merry Christmas,
Jez
Well done, lad.
Merry Christmas.
Hi David,
nice playing.
Enjoyed it.
Guenter
Excellent playing and expression too David - not easy to do. Superb tone and Crisp production. Was it micd or direct input - either way great control over the sound.
Nice listen.
Cheers.
Mike.
That was superb playing!
Merry Christmas
Ian
David,
Why are you using band in a box if you can play like that ;-)
But really, very cool playing!
Merry Christmas!
Rob & Anne-Marie
Thanks Trygve!
Happy Holly Days!!
Thanks Torrey,
Those old school cats sure knew how to write catchy tunes, huh?
This one mashed up with a Bach Bouree in E minor ended up as "Blackbird."
Aye, thank yer Sir Floyd, 'an raise a glass 'o mead high to ya, laddie!
Hey Mike,
Playing a pretty high end Ramirez. It has a Fishman system with both piezo and a mic inside.
I went direct. Much easier than mic'ing to get the exact sound I wanted though it might offend the purists. Don't tell anyone.
Hey Rob and Anne-Marie,
The answer to your question is:
If I had played ALL the instruments on all the songs I have posted on the forum in the past 2 years it would have taken me 45 years to do it.
If I had tried to find other people to play them correctly and show up on time it would have taken me 175 years.
Please let me know if this adequately answers the question.
Happy Holidays!!!
Excellent playing David.
Merry Christmas
Ssergio
David,
This is one of my all time favourite melodies of Bach's. It's also the the very first piece of music I remember hearing in 9/8.
In Bach's day, this was regarded as 'perfect time' because it's three lots of three and, from a religious perspective, three is an important number. They used to use a circle in the time signature to indicate that it was perfect time. If a song wasn't perfect time, they used to use a half circle. Over the years, this half circle mutated into a 'C' and became called 'common time'.
I digress, though... back to Bach and you... you've done this well. I can only imagine the challenges of playing it on guitar.
Merry Christmas!
Noel
I wanted to this song on steel pan. One thing I want to point out is I'm not a big fan of the reverb sound your getting. If it's just the room you recorded in, I'm sorry.
I wanted to this song on steel pan.
Ok, not quite sure what that means.
With regard to reverb I made a conscious decision to do that to get a desired effect of a cathedral. I wanted it that way, and that is what I chose.
I am sorry you did not like it.
Perhaps next time, I will develop a special version for you with no reverb.
Happy Holidays.
Beautifully played David!! I've always loved that song. Classical is hit and miss for me but Bach is HIT! Thanks for sharing. Merry Xmas!! Take care. Greg
Aye, thank yer Sir Floyd, 'an raise a glass 'o mead high to ya, laddie!

Nice playing! I love this song. Great tone too, and for me the amount of reverb in the mix was pretty much perfect.
