KEEP SINGING YOUR SONG

YOUR MUSIC MEANS MORE TO SOME PEOPLE THAN YOU THINK

This one is another total re-work of a song I posted a long time ago. It was originally intended as a tribute to all my fellow forum members and once again that is my intent! The first time around I rushed things and in retrospect I did not take the time to give the tune the proper attention it deserved. Hopefully I've done a better job this time around. It's easy to get discouraged about our music and get in a place where we wonder why we keep doing this and even think of giving it all up at times (not speaking of everyone here but certainly some of us). This post is being put up to encourage you to not give up but to "keep singing your song". If your work ends up being a blessing to one listener, it makes it worth all of the effort! At least it does for me anyway! We have an excellent forum here with a great group of people encouraging and motivating each other and my hope is that we continue to make this a desirable place to hang out and share our work! It's a place to escape for a moment the craziness of life and share with each other the music we create to make our world a better place! This will be my last song post for a while due to other demands on my time but I'm thankful that I've had the opportunity to put up several songs recently. I wanted to give this word of encouragement while I'm away for bit!

A word of caution...The mix is loud and be careful if wearing headphones!

Thanks for taking time to listen! I always appreciate it! T

Keep Singing Your Song
Words and music by Torrey Bliss

O you didn’t know but you touched somebody’s heart
Yet you wonder why and how you really played a part
Sometimes it’s hard to see just how you helped mend a soul
Your gift has worked in ways that you will never know

Keep singing your song let your story be told
If you keep it inside you’re only gonna grow old
You’ve got a light we all need
Don’t hesitate don’t make us wait
Keep singing your song

Often are the times that you want to lay it down
That no one will notice if you’re not around
Don’t you know that God put a gift inside of you
When you think about it you know what you’ve got to do

Keep singing your song let your story be told
If you keep it inside you’re only gonna grow old
You’ve got a light we all need
Don’t hesitate don’t make us wait
Keep singing your song

Someone is down oh they could use an uplifting word
You’ve got what they need
Torrey,

Right out of the chute, this sounds like a lost Beatle track - a Harrison/Lennon co-write (needless to say...a good one!). Could have easily been included on a Harrison record...

A great band! Tight. Killer sound. Awesome guitar work. Excellent vocals and BGVs.

Immediately sounds like a classic. Gets in your head and stays there.

A complete package.

The slide touches do nudge it further toward Harrison but the the vocal is has more Lennon.
The chord changes are Bliss. Had I not read anything that progression in the intro shouted Torrey to me.

Words of encouragement carried on a wonderful melody and wrapped in an incredible package.
THANKS.

Thanks Floyd! Those words mean a lot coming from such a talented artist/writer as yourself! T
Sounds like you've created a classic.

Parts of the mix could use some tweaking though.

It's got what it takes toe be a winner.

Torrey

Superb - love the chord progression and overall vibe (definitely hear some Harrison and or ELO).

Really enjoyed this one - look forward to your return.

Peter
Wow what a cool tune Torrey. Loved the slide. I got the Lennon vibe too. Loved the tune Super vocal and awesome backtrack. Well done.
Hey Torrey,

Yes, sounds very much like something George might have written as others have mentioned.

Very, very good indeed! Nice little parting gift for us, hopefully you won't be away for too long.
Torrey,
Fantastic composition. I can only guess how much effort it took to put this together. Very good playing and vocals. Liked it!
thank you for sharing.

Misha.

P.S. I thought that whole mix is a bit on high end of EQ, but so are my headphones.
Howdy Torrey....

Well written and performed....per usual. smile
Plus, it just may keep others inspired to just do what you do for creative self enjoyment.
Keep up the good work.

(My recent (4) endeavors (couple months back) somehow went from concept to finished product in two months which is a record for me so figured I was creatively spent. Since listening to this one guess I'll oblige and finish up my new one...."Atlantis".)

Hope all is well with you and a good day to all.
Carry on....
Torrey,

Love this... Everything you post is a work of art.

Bob
I'll have to take the admonition in the broadest sense possible in my life, but the message is loud and clear. This is one of the best songs I've heard anywhere in quite some time. I don't want to parse it. I just want to enjoy it. Best wishes and success on whatever is coming up for you.
WOW this is an outstanding song.

I agree with everything that has been said thus far.

IMHO this is your best to date.

Loved it.

Thanks Ray! I may have had Harrison in the back of my mind on this but my primary influence on this is David Huff of David and the Giants. Without his influence I wouldn't have a fraction of the music I have produced! Thanks again, T
Thanks CaptainMoto, Peter, Scott, Dave, Misha, chulaivet1966, Bob, Tangmo and Mario for taking time to listen to my tune and giving a comment! I appreciate it! Torrey

Torrey,

Your songs are so happy!

Thanks man!

smile
Hi Torrey,
Wow, kind of hard to pin down what part of the song to comment about first. The vocals are outstanding and so is your musical arrangement. As far as the other's comments, I also hear some George Harrison, but your song also has an David Lynn (ELO) vibe in some places. I enjoyed listening, thanks for posting!

Hi Torrey,

This song is so typically you. I regognize it frogm the moment you start singing. I agree with the others it is a really good song that makes you feel happy, while it sounds 'classic' Beatles too. And your vocal performance is so pleasant to listen to, as always!
It was a bit a problem reading a lot of posters compared you with Lennon. Janice and Budd always compared me with him, though not lately, but I fear I lost this title to you. And rightly so!

The reasons you (re-) made this song are very understandable. I made a song, called 'the lost song' because of the same reflections.
misha sang his version of it too. I think we just have to continue making songs, mainly because we love doing that. And that is a good reason, don't you think?

Hans
ps: Your warning about the loudness of the song was also true...
OH, YEAH! I actually got chills, Torrey. What a professional sound you have. I especially love that Harrisonesque sounding guitar. The whole backing instruments, mix, changes, dynamics --man, I can't say enough about this-- and your vocals make it all so outstanding. Yes, a very encouraging song indeed. I must say that you (and others on this forum) surely have some unintended effects in MY creativity --so much so that if I ever made anything, I'd have to give you all a cut. I haven't heard the original version, but this one soars so high.

I create stuff because I can't help it, but you give great advice to us all. Hurry back.
oh mamma loved the dramatic opening torrey.
thats a hit opening.
lots of good thinking.and arrangement.
this is very very good. reminds me a tad of a tv show theme possibly. very well done. i liked those vocal slides .
might i suggest cutting eq in the 8 k range on the vocs a bit ?
best/nice song

Great message. Good recording. Nice job.
Torrey

As always a great song and wonderful production...all of the comments have been spot on and I can't add much that's new except to say thanks for the encouragement...we may not "write the songs that make the whole would sing" (to quote the songwriter) but if we keep a song in our own hearts we'll live happier and longer because our thoughts have an opportunity to live beyond our time here.

Dan
Mighty good, Torrey. Original message we'd do well to broadcast to our nation.
Love your guitar work.

Yes, Harrison, and a bit Lynne, and a touch Klaatu.

My type of song!

Thanks for the words of encouragement!
We're a bit late to the party and the accolades have been handed out and deservedly so.

We agree with the Harrison comparisons and will add that the sentiment absolutely reminded us of him.

Well performed and mixed as always.

Great!

J&B

PS Thanks for the volume alert smile
Wow, loved the intro, sounds like ELO to me, one of your best among many superlative efforts. Fantastic work, and what a great message, too! Probably the best thing I've heard on the forum this year.
Thanks David, Hans Marty, Bawb, OM, Dan,jptjptjpt, Scott, Ed, J&B and TuneMonger for taking the time to listen and comment! I appreciate it! T
