Hi Folks,

I have looked through BIAB 2021 Real Tracks and compared them to what has been requested by users over the last 12 months:

Tin Whistle - no requests
Nanigo & Cascara - no requests
Dublin Pop - No requests
Slack Key Guitar - no requests
90's Grunge - no requests
Cinematic Guitar - no requests
Americana (of any flavour) - no requests

Actually - I can't see any requests (certainly none with any support) for any of the other 2021 Real Tracks.

Which leads me to the question - what the h... is going on?

PG Music have a Real Tracks and Styles Wishlist page on their website but they have carefully ignored almost every request made over the last 3 years.

The key thing that makes BIAB different from all other music applications and such a great inspiration to musicians are the Realtracks.

And yet every year 95% of the Realtracks produced are not requested nor required by their users.

When is this going to change?

Best Regards
Nigel Spiers

A very good question Nigel.
We tend to get caught up in all the "gee whiz" of the new release,
and forget about what was wanted.

If PGMusic is going to ignore the RealTracks Wishlist,
it might as well be removed.

I am surprised that so few people are offering User Tracks, which seems like a good way to go for "special requests". I would love to purchase a few User Tracks that would fit specific project(s). Yes, there is Fiverr, but problem with that is most of the people there do not know what BIAB is. So to get something done, you have to do it from scratch. Find person of specific genre, explain specifics of recording, get files, work them into User Tracks, etc, etc.

If for example a few musicians that know this stuff would offer exclusive or non-exclusive User tracks in that forum section, it could take interesting direction. I do not believe it would create internal competition with PG, because when on sale, PG release(s) are priced very, very fairly. I think quite opposite might happen. More content - wider audience.
Anyway, my 3 cents.

I have been under the impression that this feature was one of the unfleshed out, forgotten ones. And perhaps just too complex for 99% of folks to use. And who here has the talent to produce Brent-quality UserTracks; there is a reason we all love RealTracks.

JJJ,
It has some shortcomings, but it works just fine. Process is not hard, especially to people who familiar with BIAB. I believe you are underestimating many PG users. I met some very talented folks here on the forum that could surely do fantastic User Tracks.

I had a flute player record a short track for me that I decided to make into a User track. If you want it, take Pipeline's version in middle of the page, he fixed it the right way:

P.S. On a side note. There was a user Sergio, that done some drum tracks and sold them as packs, reasonably. Unfortunately he is not participating any longer, but I was lucky to talk with him and buy his drum packs, which are VERY usable.
Hi Nigel,

Thanks for that post. We could certainly do more to fulfill many of the requests in this forum. You made a very useful post a while back that I'd like to revisit: https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=552465#Post552465

Some of the requests in there were included in this release (several new general blues & soul guitar styles in this release, guitars that fell under the "Big Explosive Held Chords of Modern Country" category, though we didn't call it that, new slower piano options), BUT there were other suggestions in that post that are very good ideas that would still be great to do, such as "Rumba style blues", Tabla RealDrums, and others that would be good ones for us to work on.

I'd also like to point out that some of the examples you cited above were actually specifically inspired by requests in this forum, and other RealTracks from this release were also inspired by or taken directly from this forum. Some examples:

Hi Tobin,

Thanks for your reply - HOWEVER - you are confusing my requested Real Tracks with those of other members in a completely random way.

Where in my post or any of my posts ever did I request any of the following?

General Blues and Soul Guitars
Big explosive Guitar Chords
Tin Whistle
Nanigo
New Modern Jazz Styles
Pop Vibes
Cajon Real Drums
Coffee House Guitars
New Reggae Styles
New Bass MST's
Dublin Pop Guitars
Slack Key Guitars
New Steel Drums
New Cut Time Samba Styles

Please explain.

Thanks & Best Regards
Nigel
Hi Nigel,

Thanks again for your reply. Your original post in this thread indicated that the RealTracks in the recent release were not requested by anyone in this forum, not specifically you. My last reply was showing that actually many of the RealTracks from this release were in fact taken from the forums, but again, not specifically your posts.

But, as I pointed out, in reviewing many other recent requests, there are a lot of really good RealTracks ideas that we could work on moving forward.

thanks again,
Tobin

Hi Tobin,

Thanks for your reply.

I think I'll hold off upgrading to BIAB 2021 until at least one of the Real Tracks requests I have posted over the last 3-4 years has been implemented.

When is your next batch of new Real Tracks due to be released?

Best Regards
Nigel
Hi Nigel,

Typically we have released new RealTracks with the Windows release in December.
