Hi. Keep changing my Power Management settings for USB to off with my Fresco Logic card's Root Hub drivers. But the seem to reactivate automatically. The others, General, Asmedia etc stay off OK. Windows 10 1803, 64bit. Any (registry) tips?

Hi

It may be worth doing it in power options in the windows control panel
Under advanced settings usb.

Yep, it's already set like that .... I read on those never solving any problems Micros*ck forums that it might be a windows issue, at least it was with windows 7 i understood.
ok...was battling similar situation.
there are two more items you can check.
1)In Bios, check to see if item with words
faststep or quickstep is turned on and possibly
something else that could control power saving features.
2)check Windows start up items, to make
sure there is no MFG supplied power manager
is present.

If you get it resolved one way or another,
please post back here. Interested what will
work in your case.
I think RustySpoon may be referring to Fast Boot in the BIOS. Yes, on any audio PC that should be OFF. The loss of time booting is minimal but when you reboot, Windows takes the time to reconnect audio devices.
Matt,
No, "Quick boot" that is a different thing. It is in the "boot" section of Bios. These items are in "power setting". Misha.

Thanks. I don’t have that option. What brand BIOS are you using?
Matt, It it is a Lenovo Thinkpad bios.., These bios options relate to Intel chipset, not specific to Lenovo brand.

I do not want to sound like I am advertising something, but I use program called Ccleaner It is great for viewing startup processes, cleaning registry from traces of old installations, and disabling items in startup. It could be that a Power Manager software (Dell, Lenovo, Acer etc.) is trying to kick in at some point and control power settings.
Thanks. What I meant was the manufacturer of the BIOS, like Phoenix or American Megatrends.

I have tried CCleaner in the past. I found it too aggressive to try on my production machine. I’m glad it’s been successful for you. I just remove unwanted software manually.

ccleaner allows for full registry backup to file, before you scrub it. So, in case something goes bananas, you can always go back to previous reg settings.

P.S. I never had a problem with aggressive part of it before. I used it for about 8 years now. The interesting thing about it, it allows to block / uninstall certain Microsoft and other wonderful adware processes that are not removable by standard programs->uninstall.
Fast Boot was active in my ASUS BIOS, and switching it off did not help.

Fast Startup was already off in Power management (Windows 10 x64 1803).

What i think i need is some registry tweak for this Fresco Logic (SONNET) card.
I start to think it has to do with my Graphics card, AMD Radeon R7 360. I'll revert to older drivers and see what happens.
These AMD freaks seem to think they must do everything to please gamers.

PS I've been using Ccleaner for years, the only reg cleaner that never destroyed my Windows installation like so may others i tried in the past.

ADDED INFO: SOLVED. Deinstalled the Fresco Logic drivers and software. Now it runs on Microsoft's own Windows USB 3.0 drivers.
BINGO, it remembers the power management settings LoL.

Sure it can be exactly that.

I had MAJOR crashes of Halion last week. I was ready to chew door knobs. It turned out to be video (NVIDIA) drivers. Full reinstall worked.

The way I did it. Uninstalled driver (AND deleted inf files). Rebooted, letting windows slap generic driver. Run ccleaner to get rid of residue. Reboot. Then downloaded latest video drivers and done clean install. No more Halion crashes for me.

P.S. One more thing. You probably know this, but will mention. There are couple of scenarios for admin privileges. If you are the pharaoh of your machine, make sure you have full privileges when you cast spells.

Misha.
Thanks for posting your resolution. Great to hear you got it fixed!
