I have this product and it is the cheap answer to a kemper. Full price is $ 149 but I got it on a real good deal. You don't have to buy the pedal part if you are not playing live. ToneX

Hi Janice, Bud and Peter. This is fantastic listening. I loved the journey. The image below is a really good representation of what I was looking like and what I was feeling as I listened. [Linked Image] The melody, the harmony, Janice's exquisite vocals (lead and harmony), the superb lyrics and Peter's awesome guitar work sat so very comfortably on my psyche. What a great chorus!
  • Quote
I always come alive in the evening listening to the night birds singing surrounded by the glow of fireflies I no longer think of blue skies
These lines are highly visual and I felt like I could almost reach out and touch the fireflies. Then when verse 2 came along...
  • Quote
when the full moon is shining bright that’s when my spirit takes flight walking through a field of silver dew with every step my soul renews
...I felt like I was the character in the song. From start to finish, I was with you all, all the way, and fully involved in the unfolding story. Terrific everything! --Noel

Well, gotta start with the question, what kind of guitar are you using to feed said effect? Strat? Les Paul? Yamaha? RT? ... Hardware or software FX? You gave a lot of info about what you like but very little to actually help someone suggest something .. what do you have to work with? /that said, I doubt he gets that sound with budget stuff, unfortunately

Re: Is it possible to create automatic accompaniment for any melody in midi? Noel96 Yesterday at 10:43 PM Forum: Band-in-a-Box for Windows Jump to new postsJump to new posts
Also... If you record yourself humming a melody in BIAB, it's possible to transcribe that to MIDI using the Audio menu option shown below (#2). When it comes to chords, you would get a much better result if you can determine the key signature of what you hum and then set that key in BIAB. [Linked Image]

I have a reply from AurallySound who also say panning can be an issue and Take Five is panned strongly:
Quote
I took a listen and expected it to do considerably better than it did. My guess would be the rather unusual panning of instruments (the center is really open (!)) is quite different from the rock/pop songs used to train the stem separator. Will training does do some dynamic re-panning it doesn't do anything as extreme as pushing the drums so far left--perhaps something to look into.
Take Five was recorded in 1959, so could have originally been mono limited stereo. That they expected it to do better is encouraging, though some other tunes I tried were also less than brilliant.

This is interesting. I have had no problems with Pulse thus far. Note that I did not DL Roots as Swam just updated there solo strings and they sound great. Couple that with my other string libraries and I have better sounding strings then Roots, however others may find Roots very good.

Re: What utility do you use to read/change MIDI files? rharv Yesterday at 10:38 PM Forum: Off-Topic Jump to new postsJump to new posts
Not MIDI Monitor, Event List .. more likely to find any events. It's the big 'E' icon in the top Ribbon. Select desired Track(s) to show in Event List and then launch it.

Actually, even though the styles are somewhat limited, you can enter a melody and have the MELODIST feature REHARMONIZE. Make sure you uncheck "Generate Melody." Give it a shot.

It might be a stretch, but you could try recording your humming as an audio file, then put it through the Audio Chord Wizard in Band-in-a-Box so that you can send that info into BB to add the accompaniment (either keep or don't keep that recorded audio once you've sent the details to BB): https://www.pgmusic.com/manuals/bbw2024full/chapter11.htm#analyzing-chords-in-audio-audio-chord-wizard

Very original. I'm not sure I agree that the vocals should take a different direction. Perhaps you are trying to make a point about pointlessness/redundancy of the whole excursion?

Update. Rharv correctly stated I have RealBand, which I had not used in many years. The MIDI Monitor in RealBand does show me the contents of the two sample files I was sent. I have printed them for comparison, along with my first attempt to make a Type 0 file (that doesn't play on the carillon) and am analyzing them all now. Thank you all for your assistance.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
