Registration and Activation are two different processes. If you purchase directly on our website, then yes the product is automatically registered to your online account. If it is not showing in your account, this means there is a different email address entered on your order from the email you use to login to your account, or there is a typo in the email somewhere. If you need to contact us during our closed hours, you can email sales@pgmusic.com and we can look into fixing this for you. In the mean time, your serial number would have been emailed to you in your order confirmation. If you had misplaced this email, we can also look into re-sending it to you. If you had purchased through a reseller company, then they should have provided your the serial number in an email or invoice. Activation is done inside of Band-in-a-Box, under the Help menu. This video also shows the steps for activation:
Hi Jeff The very latest version. I have solved it yesterday. I copy from BB thread (to Noel): ...... I went to Microsoft web page and downloaded" DXwebsetup". I then tried to put the DXplug64. exe into the RB library and renamed the oldest so they couldnt get called. At first it didnt help, but after lot of reload of BB and RB it suddenly worked again. I felt I had just solved it by doing things I dont even where aware of.
Hi Noel Thanks for the very fine input. Yesterday before I read your post, I went to Microsoft web page and downloaded" DXwebsetup". I then tried to put the DXplug64. exe into the RB library and renamed the oldest so they couldnt get called. At first it didnt help, but after lot of reload of BB and RB it suddenly worked again. Thumbs up for excellent advice. Not the prettiest looking EQ out there, but extremely powerful and configurable and clean. My go to EQ for everything. Can't beat free for the price. Last updated 2016 but still relevant. Only wish list feature missing is the ability to capture and paste a specific EQ profile like in some of the Melda stuff. Bundle with the EQ comes with several other powerful tools you will get a lot of use from. Thanks rharv John K
No, it won't change anything. it won't delete any of your work. There are two options in Return To Factory Settings: Most and All Choose the 'Most' option, as that doesn't change your MIDI drivers etc.
Another thing you can do, which is good for troubleshooting, is to: 1. Close Band-in-a-Box. 2. Add a file called safemode.txt to the Preferences folder. (contents of the file doesn't matter) 3. Boot Band-in-a-Box, and you should see red text confirming that it is in "safe mode". This just means it is running at factory settings. You can do a test to see if the problem happens, and then you can close Band-in-a-Box and delete the file and you won't have made any changes to your settings.
Ha! That's the best laugh I've had all day. Very funny song, skillfully rendered. The shout outs could sit a little further back in the mix but that's a matter of taste. Like your trumpet runs, though there might be a stronger patch for what you're doing. Anyway...loved it!
+ 1 for 2024 You're filtering options have definitely got better this year because you're intelligently applying them at least the time signature feels and tempo range. A low hanging fruit would be to also automatically assign the genre (sense you already know it once the style is picked) narrowing down the selections for your next steps. This could easily be done in the next patch release. You have a lot of competitors who have tried to solve this problem of the quickest way to find of something very specific in a large database. Toontracks, XLN Addictive products, Captain Chords, and many sample libraries have all come up with very intuitive or highly organized methods that have beaten pure hierarchical approaches. Here's a clue the customer knows what he wants because he can hear it in his head. For rhythms that's a match a beat approach. For rhythmic instruments that have pitch or melody, Genre is the first place to start. You've also done a very good job of categorizing your instruments over the years and 9 times out of 10 the customer is looking for an alternative to for instance a Bass or a Guitar or a Saxophone, so preloading the instrument category is going to put them in a range of less than fifty things to view. All food for thought. You don't have to go out and reinvent the world to make it at least 2X better than it currently in the next patch release.
MARCH 2024. to simplify things from now on as new audio interfaces come out…as i find new ones having useful features I will update this thread in the tips and tricks forum. https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=718708#Post718708 in addition when it comes to my recommendations re how to buy a pc suitable for music production OR if someone has problems using an existing pc for music production…and my recommendations…please see this thread in the tips and tricks forum. https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=795663#Post795663 Hopefully the above will help as follows.. 1.. people new to music production and pg trying to make audio interface and pc and ancilliary gear buying decisions from the huge array of products on the market. thus saving them money and operational problems. 2..existing users involved in music production who might be encountering problems with their current pc and/or audio interface. 3..existing users looking to upgrade from an old clunker pc to a new pc and/or user interface. thus saving them money too. the reason why i started the above two threads is often people aren't aware of this info and/or it's spread out all over the net. so the idea is to save people time searching for it. I hope this helps further and I wish happiness to all. om
As Bob said, “You have some serious swing & swagger going on here!” Nailed. “all great adventures start with hold my beer" As mountain bikers we are reminded of the words often said just before a bad crash: “Hey guys watch this!” We felt your voice was fine in the mix and cool use of those BiaB tracks. Fun! J&B
Thanx Janice and Bud. Back in the day I have done seen some pretty stupid things after the phrase hold my beer.
<< Can I get Realbook standards somewhere? >> Have a look at songs and lessons that are included within the BIAB program. There are hundreds of songs and lessons.
Hi Jim ... Is there a way to make drum fills in ChordPulse? I'd forgotten about this little gem until some files I'd made a long time ago were uncovered while browsing through my MIDI files' folders. With its ability to do inversions and simple interface it is really much for convenient for working out progressions than BIAB.
Not that I'm aware of. You can try the Percussive B or Percussive C styles.
Looking back through those old posts when I (solidrock) was trying to make RealBand better, there were messages then:

So all that stress and frustration brought about some great features now in Biab and the PLUGIN that would not of otherwise happened without it so RealBand has served a good purpose.
Excellent intro Dave. Loved the vocal and lyric Marty. Cool message in the lyrics. Daves guitar and the bass lines gave the song such cool vibe. Well done
Nicely done and the soulful, heartfelt vocal well presents the contemplative lyric. The choice of tracks and the mix sound very good on our monitors. Well produced all the way around! J&B
Ronnie, what a fun and unexpected twist indeed! You've got a great feel for gospel vocal arrangements, and you've done a wonderful job bringing something different to a song everyone knows, but nobody has heard just like this. Great job!
I was just looking for this kind of info, Elliott, so thank you for being so complete in your post. To be honest, it sounds like too much time/work for me at this point but at least I know where to go when I have the patience to try it out. Dewey

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
