Hello all. I'm working on a song, and one particular chord keeps hitting a clunker (i.e. a really bad note or combination of notes in the chord). I've tried regenerating several times, still no luck. Is there any way around this?

Hi Bob,
When this happens to me, I simply freeze the tracks and send the file to Support. I reference the number of the problem bar in the email. A fix usually appears in the following patch.
Is the chord one that's foreign to the key? If so, I've sometimes found that setting a new key for the bar or two that's involved fixes the issue.
Out of curiosity, what is the key and what is the chord progression in the near vicinity of the misbehaving chord?

Thanks for responding Noel. It;s just a standard Soul progression in A. I'll try a key change and see if that works.

Like every good musician, BiaB occasionally plays notes that are poor choices. If the clunker is in a MIDI track, you can fix it in Real Band or PTPro, if it's in a RT, it can be more difficult.

Does that perhaps mean that you changed the song's key signature to the correct one, without transposing the song (say No) and now it works? One of the more overlooked settings is the key signature, and BIAB does look at it to make decisions. Those decisions are not as good if the key signature always stays in C.
Or did you change the key signature for the bar(s) with the problem chord, as Noel suggested?
Just curious what worked, for the next time we see this question.

I changed the key signature of the entire song, then regenerated it.

Unfortunately, I couldn't reproduce that exact clunker, as I had transposed the song and not saved the original version. This is the style I was using, though. I'm not sure which RT's were involved. I have had this happen with other songs in the past – no big deal now that I know that transposing fixes the clunker.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
