I just upgraded to BIAB 2015 Mega Pak and also purchased the jbridge. I tried to install jbridge, but not sure I did. How do I know if it is working? I'm not even sure what it is! Thanks
you have to try to open a 64 bit Plugin. If Jbridge is installed properly it will help make t he connection If not it will say that you can't open the plug.
Lenovo Win 10 16 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2022, Realband, Harrison Mixbus 32c version 9.1324, Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app, Komplete 49 key controller.
I opened an effect (SampleTank 3) within BIAB and at the bottom of the new window it said that JBridge was active.
What is it? Some programs are compiled to run with a bandwidth of 64 bits others need only 32 and even older programs only 16 or 8 bits of bandwidth. (See it as a highway with as many lanes going in the same direction.) Here we only look at 64 and 32 bits.
This bandwidth is not only that more data can be processed at the same time it also means that there are more addresses available in the memory (RAM) of the computer.
Very often now 64-bit and 32-bit programs don't like each other and don't work together. JBridge mediates between those two and helps to bridge tha gap. So when you are using a 64-bit operating system JBridge lets 32-bit programs work together with 64-bit applications and 64-bit programs with 32-bit applications.
Band in a Box is a 32-bit program. Currently it doesn't need more bandwith. E. g. SampleTank 3 on the other hand is a 64-bit application. To have BIAB in a position to use SampleTank 3 you need somebody to negotiate between those two. JBridge does that.
If you don't use a 64-bit application inside of BIAB or RealBand it does no harm to have it installed.
I downloaded jBridge yesterday and everytime I click on it from the start menu it says I need to do a right click and run it as an administrator. I do it and it keeps telling me the same thing as if I didn't do it. Is it too late to get my money back?
I haven't heard of this before. Have you tried setting Administrator rights?
To do this, right-click on the shortcut and, from the menu that pops up, select "Properties". Under one of the tabs in the Properties Window, you'll find an option to run the program as administrator. Activate this option. (This is the permanent way of engaging the "run as administrator" setting.)
Regarding a refund, you'll need to ask PG Music about that, we're only users in these forums. Perhaps use "Live Chat". The link for this can be found under the "Support" tab at the top of the webpage.
Regards, Noel
P.S. What are your computer and its operating specs?
I believe JBridge is meant to be run inside a host, and not as a standalone. I get the same behavior if I try to just run it on its own from the start menu, but it works inside RB just fine.. Have you tried using inside BiaB, RB, Reaper or Sonar?
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
With windows 7 64bit I got sampletank 3 working this way. 1) installed Jbridge, 2) ran jbridger, selected 32bit host, 4) set it to individual plug in selection and then searching for the folder the original 64bit sampletank3.dll was installed, 5) let i write a 32bit version to the BIAB folder, 6) chose the creates sampletank3.32.dll as preferred VST plugin from within BIAB's dxi selection menu, thus as default VSTi synth.
One question regarding ST3 remains: has any one created successfully a GM sound set to be working autoloaded from within BIAB booting for Sampletank 3? Seems either a lot of work, as with Sampletank 2.5; i gave it up with too many errors on the way to get it working). Or is it not possible at all maybe? I had Hypersonic 2 working before, but you always had to reset it to GM modus first within the plugins GUI after booting BIAB. - F
If you have current JBridge 1.7b3 and BIAB/RB 2015 all those steps are NOT necessary, and will probably lead to later confusion issues over which .dll is which.
Just install JBridge 1.7b3 and run ST3 from inside BIAB or RB
This past summer, when ST 3 came out, using the JBridge 1.65 demo version I tested ST3 with BIAB/ RB 2014 (and PowerTracks) to if the same procedure you just listed above would allow BIAB/RB 2014 to use ST3: those steps worked (as you found out).
However, all those extra steps are NOT required - as a matter of fact I've tested 1.7b3 with multiple 64 bit VSTi's and VST and they (so far) ALL work inside BIAB/RB 2015.
As for running JBridge as "standalone" my installation created two items in the Programs (aka Start Menu) folder for "JBridge" the apps are- "JBridger" and "uninstall."
As administrator, actually user with full admin privileges, I can run the JBridger app which starts you down a path of doing what fiddler2007 just described as seen in pics

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
