I've got Band-in-a-Box 2015 on a PC with Windows 10, and I use a Clavinova CVP as master keyboard and sound module, the Clavinova being connected to the PC through an Edirol MIDI/Audio interface.
For a song, I have selected an MIDI style. As in BiaB Real Drums are enabled by defaults in Options / Preferences and automatically substituted to MIDI drums, I have forced the Real Drums track to MIDI.
But now the MIDI drums track plays the piano ;-) !
I have also tried to uncheck enable Real Drums in Options / Preferences, but the MIDI drums track still plays the piano when I select the style!
On the other hand, if I select a VSTi as sound module in Options / MIDI Audio Drivers setup, the MIDI drums track plays the drums.
Thus, the problem must be linked to the MIDI connection between Band-in-a-Box and the Clavinova. But I don't see how to solve it.
MIDI drums is always on MIDI channel 10 so make sure that your Clavinova CVP drums are set to channel 10.
If I recall properly some Yamaha units used channel 16 for drums, but I thought that was corrected years ago. You should look at you manual to determine what channel the drums are dedicated.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware
But I will not have the opportunity to try them out: I came back today to my piano and Band-in-a-Box, and everything works as before I encounter the problem I described!
I don't know why: I didn't change anything on BiaB (the battery is still on channel 10) so maybe it's the MIDI setup of my Clavinova that came back after I got it turned off and on again.
God only knows ;-)
In any case, I keep your advice for the next time it will happen to me.
HI Yamaha do send the normal midi drums on ch 10 on my Clavinova. And works with the standard midi template, All PARTS However they can also send or receive drums on any ch if you send MSB 127
Many Yamaha styles use ch 9 as a second percussion ch . This wont give you a problem unless you make a midi recording File using the keyboards on board styles. Then it might, if the receiving Synth is say a sound font and does not use MSB as it doesn’t understand MSB127 LSB 0 it will fall through to LSB 0 if your are using the standard kit which is patch 0, it will therefore sound a piano that is LSB 0 Patch 0.in gen midi terms. If using say the Electro kit patch, that is Yamaha patch no 25 midi patch 24 you will get a nylon guitar.
Working your way sending BIAB data to the Clavinova should not normally be a problem always providing you are sending your drums on the midi default setting of Ch10 as set in the BIAB mixer and therefore in the channels screen shown above.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
