So...for what ever reason BIAB will not load up, all I get is the large logo as if starting up.
Win 10,BIAB 2018, I also just did the 516 upgrade hoping that it might kick start it to open, no luck with that...
I also get the little icon down in the bottom of my task bar, which it will not even let me close the program, it's like the program locks up! I have to restart my pc to clear it out.
RealBand seems to work just fine...
Anyone have a clue as what to try for a fix?
To the best of my knowledge my pc is running fine..other than this issue.
Thanks, Gene

Gene,

A couple of thoughts spring to mind. Before jumping into the complex options, though, try this and see if it helps...

1. Make sure BIAB is closed.

2. Unplug any music-related USB hardware (e.g. MIDI keyboard, etc.)

3. Right-click on the start-up shortcut and select "Run as administrator". (This is starting BIAB in Administrator mode. It is different from logging-in into Windows as 'admin' when a computer is first started. "Run as administrator" is the mode that's recommended for BIAB and RB.)

Does that bring any joy?

Also, after installing build 516, it's necessary to rebuild style picker. To do this, simply enter into style picker, wait a few seconds and the process will begin automatically. It should take around 30 seconds or so to rebuild.

Regards,
Noel

If that doesn’t work, write back. There are two files you can delete that might fix this.

BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors

No luck running as administrator, I did try that before along with a hard restart.
This time I completely removed the data cable from my Focusrite 6i6, before just tried it with power off along with another hard restart. The 6i6 is all I have on this pc other than my printer.
So regardless what I do it just locks up on the start up logo. I tried running it from my file explore also.
Needless to say, Im not the best with pc's.
Thank you Noel, how you been Matt? I havent bothered you in a while lol.
thanks again guys! i'm standing by...

Hi Geneoh,

Deleting the files "intrface.bbw" and "mysetup.dk" from the BB\Preferences folder will likely fix it.

Just make sure Band-in-a-Box is completely closed first. If it's still stuck in the Task Bar, you can hit Ctrl+Shift+Escape to open the Task Manager, and use that to force Band-in-a-Box to quit.

Thanks
Kent

That’s the two files. Let us know if this works.

Had GUI problems with 516, were fixed after this trick .... and a total factory reset wasn't enough BTW. -F

Much appreciated guys! Deleting those files got me loaded up.
It was terrible for a day...kinda like my whole band just upped & quit on me!
Thanks again!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
