Me again... song endings.
When I select 'settings for this song', then select 'generate 2 bar ending for this song' it inserts the 2 measures but when the song plays, only the the first measure of the song ending plays... you are greeted with silence for the second measure of the generated ending.

I am trying to exercise patience... but if you view my posts since I purchases this software last weekend, I have yet to successfully play a song .... my frustration levels are about maxed out

What style are you using? Endings are part of the style. Some of them may be more brief than others. Try another style and see if it makes a difference.

Song endings are 2 bars, but they are all based on the first chord of the 2 bar phrase only.

So, if the ending is at bar 33, and you write a bunch of chords, only the first one gets used. This is because the endings have a 'built-in' chord progression, where the hold band is playing a certain progression for the 2 bars.

33) C Am7 | G7 | C

would just play like this
| C

That is intentional.

If you are only hearing one bar, please tell us one of our demo songs that plays that way, and we can be talking about the same song.
The audio and MIDI demos are all available online, so you can compare them to what you are hearing.
For example, the song demos for styles 65 are here...
http://www.pgmusic.com/styles65.htm

Do you hear 1 bar endings for any of them?

Hey Peter,
My 2 bar endings consist of only one chord. As stated previously, only the first measure produces any sound, the second measure is silent.

The add a hold or put another chord in the second bar, the same as the first.

I've thousands of songs and all work well, sometimes it's setup that trips new users, sometimes it's just the learning curve, and other times it's something that's been done that makes it hard to diagnose the problem.

As with all software, I often sleep on it, eat, get my blood sugar levels stable, burn off the frustration, and go back at it.

At the moment that's where I'm at with GIMP. But it's free so I can't send it back. LOL

Another way is to find somewhere to post your song and let people figure it out, I've beta tested for years and use the software for an hour or two a day, many other have more or less exprience in different genres.

All MIDI styles have a 2 bar ending. Most (but not all) RealTracks in styles have a 2-bar ending. Perhaps you have found one of the RealTracks styles without a 2-bar ending.

For example _BG_BAND.sty is a full band bluegrass Real style, that has a 2 bar ending. Are you also hearing 2 bars on that, or 1?

_BG_BAND generates and displays a two bar ending, but sound only accompanies the first bar... the second bar is silent.

Maybe you've set up a song in an unusual way, like you've turned off endings, or put a fade out in there.
Try loading our demo songs, and tell me if you hear 2 bars or 1.

Dude, you're an IT manager. Someone calls you and says something's wrong with their computer station, you have them go down the list of possible things to try in order for you to fix it. As I know you know, 95% of anything to do with computers and networks is user error. I know some users will take exception to that by saying, "nobody told me about that!" but the point is there never was anything wrong with the system in most cases.
We need details of exactly what you're doing and your system configuration. Is this a new song that you created from scratch and inputted all the chords yourself, is it a biab song you downloaded, are you using all midi instruments, all Real Tracks, or both and what have you done to try to test and isolate this?
Don't just post a cryptic statement "it's not working, I'm so frustrated!!"
Since you're a computer pro, I'm sure you can find someplace to post a screenshot of the Biab chord grid and an Mp3 of the problem. This forum does not allow you to post pic's or soundclips directly. Use the "URL" tab located at the bottom of the window when you create your post and that will imbed the link.

Well,Bob.
Thank you for that nice welcome to the forum. I will reserve my personal attacks for another day, but just to enlighten you, I am a project manager not a help desk manager who deals with work station and software issues as you describe.
Second, as a new BIAB user, learned individuals such as yourself give advice to "do this and that", failing to understand that as someone who has had this product for less than a week do not know where 'this and that' you refer to is.
So, Bob, it is frustrating.

You got clear questions asked, it ain't difficult to post some file somewhere demoing the problem - and nothing happens ...

Hey Martin, I'll be glad to post an MP3. Just let us who have not done it before know where to post it.
Thanks.

You might accept the very first 'post files' google result -> www.quickfilepost.com. It would be good to post your MP3 file together with the pertinent BiaB file. In the meantime, you might try answering Peter's question.

Hi,

Try putting in a simpler chord for the ending... e.g. maj, min, maj7, or m7

Ok, I obviously don't know your job description but isn't an IT project manager still considered a computer pro? If not, fine but you still have not given us anything to go on, no answers of any kind in your response to me. Andrew's suggestions are merely shooting in the dark, we have no idea what chord types you used. If you've speny any time at all reading this forum then you know we actually are a very friendly and helpful bunch. I totally understand your frustration believe me, but when I had my share of problems years ago, I researched the forum and at least tried to gather some pertinent facts concerning exactly what I tried and what didn't seem to work, described my computer hardware and software and the audio midi/audio configuration and then posted an intelligent question. When you read others posts in the forum about any type of problem note how specific most people are in their descriptions and if they're not, then note what kind of information is then immediately asked for.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
