They know what they are doing, and they know the chances of moderators being on the job are less on the weekend.
Personally, I think the mods do a fantastic job of cleaning the spam off the board (thank you mods), so when it arrives, I just pass it by -- unless it has zero views, then I open and report.

With all the good thinking on this subject from prior threads, I don't remember that suggestion, to approve a first post. Makes sense to me. Most of the spam that is selling something is a first post.
However - I was impressed how fast the spam was blown away on an early Sunday morning. Bravo, moderators.

Although there was a lot of SPAM this morning it was particularly easy to pass by since it was obviously SPAM without opening it.

I've seen that happen on other forums that I frequent.
Spam is here to stay. As long as people are foolish enough to buy what the spammer is selling, the spammer will use every technology it can to get the spam out. The only way to stop it is for everybody to quit buying what the spammer is selling, and I don't see that happening.
Again, I thank the moderators for taking care if it. And if I see it before the mods, I'll either ignore it or report it, whatever I think will help the mods the most.

True, but in turn that makes it more difficult for newbies. I'm sure PG has considered all this and they have taken the compromise that they feel is best. Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
