Band-in-a-Box® 2017 for Windows was released on December 1st, and we've already received some great feedback!

Here's what users are saying...

"Coolest program around! In my opinion, the sound of the music is much improved with the 2017 upgrade!"
"Every one of the new RealTracks sounds fantastic. It is amazing 'the heights' to where PG Music has taken BIAB."
"Natural Arrangements Feature: Whatever magic this does, I'm hearing better voice leading in the guitar and piano on my Bossa Nova song with advanced extensions. I'm really liking this!"
"What a sensational spread. Most impressive. Thank you!"
"Love the dual layer chord view! How great is that. I like being able to see two alternative notations together (especially Nashville and standard notations)!"
"These RealTracks are an incredible achievement. Like the others above me, 'Wow' was the first thing that sprang to mind!"
"Receiving my installation on a flash drive is perfect!"
"I am impressed with the new RealTracks, to say the least!!! Can't wait to get creative with this excellence!!!!"
"I like what I am hearing!!! Awesome stuff, PG Music!"
"The new RealTracks are stupendous!"
"I just installed 2017 for Windows and and while it took a few minutes to become familiar with it. The end result is a MUCH more usable application UI. It looks like someone spent some serious time re-thinking how a UI should operate for BiaB and did an awesome job on the re-design."
"The first few demo's I played with only 2017 RealTracks... WOW, Felt almost like being 12 again. Absolutely incredible marriages and sounds to hear."

What's your favorite new feature?

But no new RealDrums... Very disappointing, the drums are the primary reason I use BiaB. I can play my own bass, guitar and string parts - but drums, not so much. Hoe you get some new grooves soon.

It's all about the music.

Not only are there new RealDrums, but now in BIAB 2017 you can select half-time, double-time or even triple-time. This is a terrific new capability that works on all RealDrums, not just the new ones. And it's another example of a Wishlist request (mine, for this one) fulfilled by PG Music.

I think the confusion is that even though they are handled separately (RealTracks and RealDrums), the new RealDrums (and this isn't the first time it's been done) have been included as part of the RealTracks packages, versus separated out as RealTracks and RealDrums (as was originally done).

>>> Exactly. Ya, Why is that? Inquiring minds want to know.

We stopped making separate RealDrums sets a few years back, since they belong with the RealTracks sets, since they are often band specific.

For example, they might be like

RealTracks Set 257: A Taste of Peru

It has a number of instruments (guitars, bass, and percussion (drums))
and includes these RealDrums : PercFestejoPeru^ or PercValsCriollo^

It makes more sense to include the drums as any other instrument, rather than make different sets. Otherwise, you'd need to buy the RealTracks set and also the RealDrums set to get the whole band.

btw, the percussionist on this set is Alex Acuna (Weather Report, Herbie Hancock etc.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Acu%C3%B1a

RealTracks in this Set:
[17] Bass, Electric, PeruFestejo68 Sw 120 Solo demo | Band demo [ Artist: Oscar Stagnaro ]
[18] Guitar, Nylon, Rhythm PeruFestejo68 Sw 120 Solo demo | Band demo [ Artist: Ramon Stagnaro ]
[19] Guitar, Nylon, Fingerpicking PeruFestejo68Melodic Sw 120 Solo demo | Band demo [ Artist: Ramon Stagnaro ]
[20] Bass, Electric, PeruValsCriollo Ev 140 Solo demo | Band demo [ Artist: Oscar Stagnaro ]
[21] Guitar, Nylon, Rhythm PeruValsCriollo Ev 140 Solo demo | Band demo [ Artist: Ramon Stagnaro ]

Yup. I am very pleased that I was incorrect...

I had not received the hard disk yet, but the Real Drum sets stop at 29, and I already had those in 2016.

Now that it's here - the new stuff sounds gr-r-r-EAT! grin

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
