This is from the Help file:

Options

Although the Lead Sheet window has its own Options dialog, many of the settings in the Notation Window Options dialog also affect the Lead Sheet window. For example, "Engraver Spacing" and "Detect fine Resolution Notation" affect the Lead Sheet window in addition to the Notation window.

The following settings are located in the Lead Sheet Options dialog, which is launched when the [Opt.] button is pressed:

The Track-Specific settings section lets you adjust settings for individual tracks. The Selected checkbox determines if a track is displayed in the current Lead Sheet window. The combo box with the track numbers will show an asterisk character(*) for tracks which are selected.

The Include Bass Clef and Include Treble Clef settings determine which of the clefs will be displayed for each track.

The Include Bass Clef and Include Treble Clef settings determine which of the clefs will be displayed for each track.

I only have the piano track highlighted. I'm trying to print a basic treble clef piano part with the chords written above, like a fake book. It's giving me both bass and treble clef in the print preview. This is all there is in the Help file. No further explanations. Note the part in bold. I unchecked "Include bass clef" and checked "Include treble clef". That should be it, no? Seems pretty straightforward.

This is yet another example of how the Help file doesn't help. If there's something else to be done in order to get rid of the bass clef, then it needs to be spelled out right here.

One of my biggest gripes with Help files, not just PG's but pretty much all of them, is when the Help file makes a definite statement like the part in bold there needs to be an addendum right there that says something like "If this doesn't work like it should, try this". Why make users go crazy trying to figure something out when that's all it says in the Help file?

My New Years resolution is to document and gripe about every one of these things in the Help file. There's ton's of them. I've posted here about a few and others have too. This needs to get cleaned up.

It's Christmas and I'm trying not to sound too annoyed but of course I'm pressed for time, got to get to a Xmas party gig and all I wanted to do is to print out a basic lead sheet from Christmas Time Is Here and hand it out to the band rather than putting it in Word which I just did because I'm out of time. Jeesh...

It's cool to be able to hand the guys a nice lead sheet and say I printed this out from the program simply by loading in a midi file. Cool, eh? Oh well.

Bob

attempt to replicate

opened rb 2012 w/update 5
loaded minitwlz.seq from rb\samples folder only one track in this file
selected lead sheet window
selected opt & unchecked include base clef
clicked OK base clef went away
clicked print
unchecked inclued base clef
checked include clef & key sig every line
no base clef in print preview clef & key sig on every line
printed page matched print preview

Quote:

I only have the piano track highlighted

in the lead sheet options screen ALL tracks not desired in the print out must be manually un-selected

i verified this by selecting track 2 ,which has no data,in the lead sheet options screen and clicking the select box

i also noted that tracks with their select box checked have an * next to their name in the listing that when you click in the lead sheet options screen track select down arrow

hope this helps

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
