Hi. I have BIAB 2010 and a harddrive with the new version should be here next week. I'd like to know if there is a way to:
1) Have a full chorus of a drum solo (i.e...32 bars) where all other instruments drop out and a jazz style drum solo plays.
2) Have a trading 4's (or 8's) chorus with the drums where the rhythm section plays for 4 bars and then there is a 4 bar drum solo (with no other instruments playing).
I'm trying to create tracks for a student who doesn't have a group to play with to simulate a real performance setting. I want him to have a chance to trade 4's with a drummer or sit through a chorus of a drum solo like he might do in a real jazz combo setting. I see a trade 4's option with the soloist, but it appears to only work where you can trade 4's with a melodic soloist (ie...sax/trumpet/etc) as opposed to the typical procedure of trading with a drum kit.
Is there an easy way to insert a chorus of these into your biab track? Thanks!

I think you could accomplish this by "unfolding" your song - that is, instead of having 32 bars repeat 5 times, lay out your song as 110 bars without a repeat (you can copy and paste the 32 bars to do this). Then use F5 at any bar you'd like to rest any instruments. For example, the whole band plays the first 32 bars, then at bar 33, click F5 and rest everyone except the drums. At bar 65, select F5 again, then you could have the whole band play for 4 bars, then at bar 69 (with F5) have only the drums play. At bar 73, F5 again, and lets everyone play. At bar 77, F5 again...
That's a long-winded explanation, but hopefully it will let you do what you're wanting to accomplish.

There is a jazfours style. As I recall, in the b sub style, the drums are doing solos every 4 bars.
Search in the stylepickermfor the word fours,and you should find it.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
