You know, Matt, it's so nice to be able to sit at work, and listen to Pandora, and hear one of your songs come up in rotation. When is Tomas going to get his album into the rotation? I can't even find his name listed on Pandora

Mitch,
I've had it for years. It is also the only album that Matt has out, except for his work on Tomas Martin Lopez's album, which is the other album that I'd like to see in the Pandora rotation.

If you have not listened to 'On The Beat Path', I highly recommend it.

Matt, using the same techniques as on Brazilian Wish, wrote 8 of the songs on 'On the Beat Path.' You'll recognize a couple from 'Brazlian Wish.'

Actually, I just sent that same link to Pandora, so maybe it'll show up in the rotation.

Well, look at that. Stay away from the forum for a few hours, and what good fortune happens?

Thanks, guys! Very much appreciated.

Gary, I have encouraged Tomas to get on Pandora. I really like Pandora too and I'm actually getting some money from airplay there. The problem is that for a long time, Pandora was not accepting new submissions. Even when they do accept, they are selective and do not approve everything. Quality control is good, but musicians do have to wait. I will give Tomas another nudge now to try again!

I'm also thinking about my next recording...

In the meantime, while I am grateful Amazon carries my CD, I don't know if you all realize how much aggravation it is for independent musicians to work with Amazon, and how little money we get after their cut and the shipping charges. CD Baby is FAR BETTER for paying musicians, and I encourage people to preview and purchase through them. The link is in my signature.

Matt,
There is the ability to send Pandora an e-mail about artists that people would like to see them play, so I did send them one. Hopefully they'll be able to start playing his stuff, but nudge him anyway.

Unfortunately, Rhapsody also does not have his work, so you might suggest that avenue to him also.

I'm looking forward to your next album, when you get ready.

Gary

Thanks for pointing out the Musician side of Amazon vs CDBaby. Getting ready to post some mp3 downloads myself and was investigating Amazon...I'll look into CDBaby instead.

Mitch, you still may want to do both. There are some things that require being on Amazon; Pandora is one of them.

It's just that I try to discourage people from buying from Amazon if there is a choice.

The main cost difference for an independent artist is that Amazon will not stock your CD, so every time someone orders one, you have to pay to package it and ship it out, and go to the post office. CD Baby keeps a bunch on hand, especially when you've established a track record on which to base inventory control, so one shipment to them every so often is all that is needed. CD Baby doesn't charge an annual fee, just a one-time modest setup fee, and they are really good about accounting and prompt payment. CD Baby will also place your CD on all other downloadable services that you specify, and keep track of the accounting. Plus, now CD Baby can make you digital download cards, which many people at concerts increasingly ask for.

You can see why I'm a big fan of CD Baby.

Mitch,
On the other side of the CD Baby coin is their great customer service. I just love the e-mail they send to you when you order from them.

Shipping times are very fast, and it's just done well. CD Baby is a nice company to deal with.

So many talents! Kudos to both Matt and Tom, and thanks much for insights into publishing options and considerations. I love Matt's classy work, and am just getting exposed to Tom's rather prolific efforts. He has written many, very funny songs! I'm wondering what "channels" their work can be found on with Pandora. What channel is Matt's on - "Brazilian jazz"? And Tom's, "Zappa Songs"? Just guessing.

Thanks DrD. When you use Pandora, you can create a station by entering the name of a musician. Pandora will then select music that is from that musician or is similar. The strength of Pandora is its system of categorizing music and showing you why it chose each song. You then give each song it plays a 'thumbs up' or 'thumbs down' to further refine that station.

Congratulations, Tom!

Are you registered with Sound Exchange? That's how you will get paid. It isn't much, but it all adds up.

Disclaimer:, I have no connection in anyway with this outfit.

Another forum member posted this site for me last year.

But: 1 Free approval disk + shipping, 5 cds 5 bucks + think it was less than 5 shipping
then the price goes up.

http://www.kunaki.com/ link was given to me last year.

This outfit entirely automates ordering process. Bar-codes whole bit.

Also they purportedly work with Amazon. Re-stocking very simple and more.

Downloaded the Automatic part of the whole process.

Newbie to this sort of thing, but was impressed.

Newbie-Dewbie-Dew.....LOL, couldn't resist that.

Ego, Dego, Lego, Plan on publishing thru them.

The Release Date will be announced very soon on TMC. LOL.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
