Here's a poser for Emac experts. I gave a video of our daughters wedding to an old friend who edits them and puts them onto cds for folks as a wee earner on the side.
Problem. He left a message on fb saying he'd be passing the house with the comminity bus one day last week and could I meet him at our road end. In typical facebook style the message never got sent.
After he did his shift with the bus, he left the dvd & mini tape in the bus in a carrier bag. He phoned up the next driver who took over from im. No bag on the bus and it wasn't handed in. ALL passengers were old folk so none of them would've nicked it.
He deleted the video from the Mac the night before.
I'm wondering if there's a way to recover the deleted video using software ? I've asked one of my IT mates who said he'd have a look but he's on holiday for the next 10 days so time ( I've been told ) is critical.
Anyone got any suggestions ? Don't know the actual emac he uses but I could find out if needed

Thanks Mike, not too sure about which software to use as it's not my computer.
Have told him to pop onto Mac forums for help. Just wondered if anyone on here have had similar problems as I know there's a lot of Mac users on here

The most important thing is he must not use that computer for anything till the video is rescued, being a deleted file, the system will just write new data over the file while in use, so only bits of it can be recovered.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
