I just spent bout an hour trying to isolate then reduce gain
on this beep noise.

This be the song.
Just after 32 seconds into this song is a Beep type sound.
http://soundcloud.com/seeker1/celebrated-afternoons

It is also in my original WAV file source for mp3.

There does not seem to be a spike or some visible anomaly,
Was in Audacity and expanded and played over and over, many
gain changes and did not have any success.

Would appreciate you guidance.

Thank you.

I don't hear any 'beep' noise at .32 Frank. I do hear something that sounds kinda like a guitar chime there. Is that what you're referring to?

I do hear what you hear at about .32 in the left speaker. Sounds like whatever instrument is being played just makes that 'noise'. It's not overly obnoxious, but I can understand you wanting to 'tame' it a tad.

I don't think you're going to get that out of the mixed file no matter what tool you use.

Can you re-mix this tune and focus on that track to see what might be done prior to mixing it again ?

Bob, Mitch,

I loaded the song into RB and isolated and used Audio Edit window to play over and over.
Change the gain by -12 db, reducing it to almost nothing, but its a pretty large
chunk taken out of a nice song.

I already save the RB seq file around 200 meg give or take.
Will reload it along with all my settings play/listen and see if its there.
If so will go back to BIAB and re-render, then redo my mix.

Dont have playing abilities of you folks, but sounds like that.....EEEEEEEEEEEEEkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk...

rharv, thanks to your earphones ATH M40fs I hear that kind of stuff. Its also obvious on speakers.

Will go back to almost scratch and redo, its too nice to dump.

Thanks again folks.

Hey Frank

If you've got all of the tracks in RB, why not generate the same soloist/guitar on another track in RB. For this you would need all of the chords in the chord window (duh) You don't need to go back to BIAB.

But you could then open two Audio Edit Windows, compare the two tracks and copy a section of the second generation (bar or two) and then 1-track paste it into the troublesome track over the spot you don't like. Should work fine.

Give it a shot. OR pick a section from the troubled track and cover the problem . . . . if you can find a repeat section.

Cheers - Ian

Let me know how it works.

Maybe even rolling off some high frequency above 1000 on PGs 10-band might help. I heard a couple of notes in there that made my teeth hurt. I normally hear everything in High DEAF

Or do you have this artifact on a single track? If so try Melody DNA to isolate the notes and pluck it out like a weed. You can download a free 30 trial or just post the problem track and someone can do it for you and return it.

Loaded the RB .SEQ file.
Isolated the culprit track.
Isolated the glubby spot.
Activated the Audio Editor.
Expanded and played many times to see the glitch.
The note/s played physically looked good, but were tad off sound(kinda like off key).
Amplitude and note decay looked just fine.
Reduced about 80% by -9 db and part of the starting note by -3db.
I can hear it extremely lightly, but don't think another person would.
Especially a "Civilian". LOL.

The realtrack was:
1139:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm CountrySwingCleanA-B Sw 110

Am happy with the results and that the SEQ file was saved.
Gonna need many more hard drives if keep up the backup tracks and files
for all these songs.

Ian, Dan, bookmarked this link in my BIAB folder for future REF's thank you.

It sounds like the backing MIDI guitar track is hitting a note at that point, so I don't think it's an audio artifact.

Ooops... I see it was a RealTrack. (I don't want to start another MIDI vs. RT debate! ).

If you've got access to a DAW, I've had a lot of luck with Spectro for fixing artifacts like that. You can select chunks of audio in a very selective way for reduction/elimination. It's always better to do that with a single audio track than the final mix, of course.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
