Hi again out there.
It has been a long time since I last was on this forum. I still work with music, but I also try to get my feet wet on "the art" of podcasting. I have tried to find a good forum about podcasting on the net, but it was not easy ( to put it mildly), so I must "go back home" to good old PG forum. This is the Story: If it is possible, I would like if the podcasts could be "downloaded" to any modern mobile phone. It looks to me that a lot of podcasters use Itunes for their podcasts. but isnt Itunes only a praktichal choyse for iphones?

Best regards

Tono,

The key to podcasts on non-iTunes is to have an RSS feed URL for the podcast. Then the end user can choose which program to use to search the URL for the .mp3 file.

I have used two different programs to automatically download podcasts from the internet.

Ziepod http://www.ziepod.com/

and

Juice http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/

I used Juice for a couple of years to download various music show podcasts from public radio stations, then burn the .mp3 files to CDRW that I played in my car.

I started having some issues with it where it seemed to ignore new podcasts on the RSS URLs I had chosen. I have used Ziepod a few times.

The mobile phone aspect of things is almost irrelevant. The key is hosting your podcast .mp3 files somewhere that can populate the RSS URL. iTunes is convenient.

There are other alternatives. This article lists them on the 2nd page:

Leo Laporte the Tech guy has regular weekly shows, radio, podcasts
etc.

Dont discount using YouTube. Note his link and information.

Dont think there are any charges from YouTube(not sure, just a guess).

Set up your camera's subjects and have at it.
I'd suggest at minimum subject outline of your show or subject.

Practice the show, then tape for practice, then go for it.

Keeping in mind Video production even a beginning level is a monster
of a time eater....Your time.

Thank you so much for cind answers Rockstar_not and seeker.
Rosckstar _not you write:"The key to podcasts on non-iTunes is to have an RSS feed URL for the podcast. I think I go for libsyn as a host, they seem to have a good reputation, and the prizes are afordable. Rocksta_not when you write:"The mobile phone aspect of things is almost irrelevant." Could you please tell me a little more why? ( to an "old" man that is not an expert in all the details in this new tecnology:-)

To make it more "easy" for the people to find the podcasts, I was thinking of using QR codes ( That could be used on anything that could take a print. What is your upinion?

Best regards

Tono,

Podcasts are normally .mp3 files or some other compressed audio format. This is what makes it irrelevant for mobile phones. Any of the smart-phones on the market (dominated by Android based phones, but also iPhones) can play .mp3 files and handle podcast delivered audio.

That's the point I was trying to make about mobile phones.

Unless you have a way to print the QR codes for people to scan them, they aren't of much use. Do you plan to somehow advertise in print media for your podcast? If so, then the QR code makes sense. If not, then there's really no point in generating and using QR codes.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
