3 Studio Principles To Live By

There’s nothing earth shattering here, but there’s some good general concepts the guy is promoting. I wish I’d followed his advice years ago.

I thought some of you might be inspired by these simple ideas:

Hi Bob! This is trapper456. I watched this video thanks I will apply these principles.

Music is an expression that is a universal language, Never criticize anybody to harshly. They need time to grow but when they do, they do. Always be kind in what you say and do because the man upstairs is watching.

Thanks Bob,

Nothin' lights up a thread like you chiming in!

I'm just curious as to who's posting under the third screen name now?

Hi Bob! This is kemmrich. I watched this video and I think #3 is hurting me right now!

I've watched a ton of his videos (but I hadn't seen this one yet) and I think he is good at simplifying the whole mixing process. Thanks for sharing.

This thread and replies is beginning to sound like that old cult classic "The Prisoner" used to love and still will watch if an episode ever comes one.

"Come in number six, this is one speaking"

Thanks for links Bob will have a look later

Hi Bob! This is Pat Marr!

Thanks for posting that link... its exactly what I needed to hear to get me past the option paralysis and the inability to drive a project to completion.

Its interesting that a person can have so many ideas and so much gear and really all the raw material for productivity... and still do nothing with it. As Pogo said: "we have seen the enemy, and he is us"

even though it all boils down to "just do it", sometimes the obvious is what we are most inclined to overlook

Hi Bob. This is Eddie1261. It really is. Honestly!!

Great link and the links FROM the link will be great as well.

I am really learning both what I need to do and why the Mutt Lange's of the world make the money they make.

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

Hi Bob, I’m not going to tell you who I am

Very good information indeed!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Thanks, Bob.

This video is good, but is just a small abstract of what Graham Cochrane has been putting out... I have been listening to the 32-volume set of 5-minute mixing tips -- and there's still another 32-video set to go. Originally recommended here a couple of weeks ago by, I think, Kevin E. (Please, no names... the paranoids might be watching us!).

Highly recommended, even though he is working with ProTools and most of us aren't.

He will also send you out a very useful free eBook. Can't miss.

Sorry, these series are only 31 videos each, not 32.... I was thinking of the Beethoven piano sonatas.

Here is the URL for the first video.

Bob,

Extremely enlightening by this young man.
Appreciate you sharing the link.

I especially like parts 2 and 3.

After tagging up with you folks and getting piles and piles of free
and also paid plugins, was bit overwhelmed.
Still have 999 miles to go, but feel more comfortable now.

On 3, that is an obstacle for so many of us, not just music, but
other things in our lives.

Again thanks Bob, was great watching.

Hi Guys! This is Bob!

There’s definitely a ton of videos by this guy. I subscribed to his YouTube page about 2-1/2 years ago.

https://www.youtube.com/user/recordingrevolution?feature=watch

I posted a couple here, but I’ve only watched a very small fraction of what’s available. I also bookmarked the website, but I really haven’t explored what’s available. It sounds like Brallan has found some good stuff there.

Hi Bob and the other Bob, This is Don Spooner aka Curmudgeon.

Thanks for the links. I'm getting to the point that I've forgotten much of what I thought I knew. I'll check this guy out later, (if I don't forget ) .

Hi Bob,
This is Pat Marr again (aka Pat Marr)

You're a bluegrass kind of guy... since you're so good at finding and posting links that are worthwhile... can you recommend any good instructional links for:
banjo, dobro, mandolin, fiddle and flatpick guitar? (start a new post for any instructional links)

In the past I've piddled with these instruments just enough to put a generic part in the mix. Now that my wife is gone, I think I'll get serious about learning to play these bluegrass instruments... especially since this part of NC is very supportive of traditional music.

Hello both Bobs, this is Danny C. not to be confused with Mario D. but I am using my best New York accent while I am typing.

Anyway besides busting your chops (in a friendly way of course) I will get into the video this afternoon.

Thanks for posting,

This is Eddie V. Danny C, wouldn't your best New York accent have to include "youze guys" somewhere in there? Much the way a southern accent would include "y'all haul"?

Hi Pat! This is Bob again!

Although I know there are links to free instructional mater, I’ve never seen any that looked that worthwhile. After all, you do get what you pay for most of the time. Obviously there are exceptions.

I should also point out that PG has instructional material and even though I’ve looked at some blues and jazz guitar, I’ve never actually used it to any degree. I know Mac has mentioned using some of the jazz guitar instruction.

The best instructional material I’ve ever used is from Homespun.

http://www.homespun.com/

I’ve taken guitar lessons from them in jazz, rock, blues, fingerstyle and flatpick. I’ve also taken banjo, fiddle and mandolin from numerous artists. They also have excellent dobro material.

Their teachers are the “who’s who” of all genres. You’ll get printed sheet music in standard notation and tab, plus you’ll get audio and video.

If you want to start a separate thread on it, feel free to copy and paste this as part of it.

Nahhhh . . . the accent was only heard by me as I was speaking it while typing.

Re: "y'all haul"? Never heard that one, I do hear a lot of "Yawll". Unless "y'all haul" is a name of a southern truck and trailer rental company.

That's from my standup from like 20 years ago, how when people in the south move they rent a Y'all Haul.

Much like when the southern sheriff pulls the guy over and says "Boy, you got any ID?" and the guys says "'Bout what?"

You wanna piece of me?

No huh

Well badda bing badda bang!

PS – don’t believe a thing that guy from south Louisiana is saying. He doesn’t have a New York keyboard!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
