I could listen to Glen Campbell all day. I have many albums and listen pretty frequently.

The Wichita Lineman has left the road.

RIP!

That is so sad to hear. I'll miss him. I used to listen to him back in the day, and watch his show back in the early 1970's. He was a terrific player & singer....

One hell of a guitarist has passed on.

RIP Glen.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

A very sad day for the music and entertainment industry. Rest now, Glen.

We are appreciative though for the legacy of the music that he brought our way.

With his Alzheimers his wife had to do the communication for him, but he had no problem playing, singing and remembering his songs.
He was a great session player also.

Dear "floyd jane" & all...

Glen Campbell introduced me to Western Swing when he sang "Rose of San Antone" in a television appearance with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. You can watch it on YouTube.

Pure, seemingly effortless, and youthfully passionate singing, of the kind you never, ever, EVER forget listening to...and topped off by Bob Wills' joyful "Ahhh, ha-a-a-a-ahhh's!" throughout while fiddling his heart out.

You made us plenty happy during your stay on this Earth, so now, enjoy your return to Our Creator's everlasting arms, Mr. Campbell smile.

The Netflix documentary "I'll Be Me" was a remarkably well done look into his last performances. It was not sensationalized; rather, it presented a very moving story of when he had reached the point that he no longer recognized his family but could still play and sing well. We found it uplifting in the sense that it illustrated how powerful the music bond can be.

The above quote reveals a mystery .. musicians use a different part of their brain to tie things together, apparently.
I know many studies show musicians learn differently (and as a result are usually 'smarter' when tested). The fact that the music still made sense to him when other familiar things didn't says something, and hopefully contributed to his quality of life at the end.

He will be missed.
/I've been a fan of Glen for years so a pretty sad event for me. And anyone else he touched.

The saddest thing I read about him near the end was relayed by his son. Glen turned to his son and said "Let's do Wichita Lineman." And he son replied, "We just finished that one, dad."

Makes me as sad as comparing 22 year old Brian Wilson to 75 year old Brian Wilson, after all the drugs, the depression, the anxiety, the stroke.... I just can't bring myself to go see him.

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

1. How much did you make in 2023?

Dear "rharv"...

Here's what Ludwig Van Beethoven wrote about the nature of music:

"The vibrations on the air are the breath of God speaking to man's soul. Music is the language of God. We musicians are as close to God as man can be. We hear his voice, we read his lips, we give birth to the childen of God, who sing his praise. That is what musicians are."

I once wrote an essay on this that got pretty good reviews.

If you think about it we are:
A. Working in divisions of real time (math) happening continuously as we play while reading music
B. Reading a foreign language (none of us were taught music before our native language or we wouldn't understand it).
C. Improvising; creating things by thinking beyond the above 2 processes. We have to process and create 'before' the moment arrives in order to play the right note 'when' the moment arrives. So we are reading ahead, analyzing what is coming, reacting/creating beforehand, performing 'behind' what we are reading/processing so when the moment arrives we are in time .. being late is unacceptable. Not many other skills require this kind of processing! That's a lot to keep track of.

Then realize that IF we are good, we are listening to what the rest of the band is creating and including that in our end result so we are analyzing the 'now' and it is affecting what we are responding with within (sometimes) milliseconds .. let alone a guy from Russia and a guy from US can both look at a sheet of music and 'communicate' even though they do not know each others native language. It binds societies/races/countries.

It really is an amazing thing when you think about it.
And I see why it makes for a better student, regardless of path.

The fact that this seems to 'stick', even when other memory is gone, makes it even more amazing. Musicians.
We're 'different'.

What a sad time in music - he had so many classics. I grew up with my parents playing in the house. He will be dearly missed frown

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
