Hi there
Here's a rough version of my no3 FAWM song.

https://soundcloud.com/tuigorge/whats-the-matter

I will revisit it and add a bari solo when I have more time.
Hope you enjoy it and yes I welcome criticism.
How would you improve it?
Cheers.

Edit - Forgot all about track details. They are -

Drums - Country even 8
Bass - RT 519 Pop half notes
Guitar - RT 1257 Pop shining
Accordion - RT 1287 Tex Mex 2 beat

I find I can do the whole project in Real Band now except for final tweaks in an old copy of Cool Edit.

Another edit - damn! Forgot to post the words as well. (losing it!). Here they are

What's The Matter

Whats the matter with the weather Whats the matter with the World
Whats the matter with the people Why won't you be my girl

What's the matter with the city What's the matter with the crowd
What's the matter with the traffic Why is everything so loud

Whats the matter with the weather Whats the matter with the World
Whats the matter with the people Won't you be my girl

What's the matter with the cabin What's the matter with the car
What's the matter with the bathroom And the strings on my gui-tar

Whats the matter with the weather Whats the matter with the World
Whats the matter with the people Won't you be my girl

What's the matter with slow-dancing What's the matter with your smile
What's the matter with your hair now just for-get it for a while

Whats the matter with the weather Whats the matter with the World
Whats the matter with the people Why won't you be my girl
So we can rule the world

Very nice lyrics and melody.

Suggestions: I agree the song needs a solo but I think the accordion would work very well rather than adding an additional instrument.

Howdy, enjoyed it and admire you FAWN folks.
Could you list the RT's? We've done one TexMex
tune and would like to see how you are constructing
this. Thanks

Congrats. It's a fun song. I enjoyed it.

I'd let the accordion shine by bringing it up in the intro and lowering the electric guitar. There are spots within the song too where the accordion could be the focus, in between the lyrical couplets.

Good luck:)

Glad to get to hear a new one from you, Richard...

"What's the matter with your hair now" - I laughed out loud there...

Bring the accordion up to the level of the guitar and you shouldn't need to add anything else - it's a good sound...

Thanks Charlie, R&B, Olemon, Guenter and Floyd for the excellent comments about the accordion. Pretty much unanimous. Will certainly follow this advice!

Thanks Rec for the listen and good wishes.

Yeah Rob. Can't say too much about the inspiration for this song or i'll get in trouble with my wife!

Richard, What's the matter with you? Just kidding, it sounds great. Just a little more accordion. Very funny. Nice job. Tom

Hi Richard,

This is a great sound and really fun song to listen to. I, too, thought the accordion could be made a bit louder. It's a pretty cool concept that you've come up with for a list song.

All the best with FAWM. I don't know how people manage that one. I tip my hat to you!

Regards,
Noel

Thanks Rob and Anne-Marie. Glad you enjoyed it.
Will give the forum a rest until next month. Getting a bit bogged down! Cheers.

Thanks Greg. A bit of a quickie this one. I like to take about a week over each song but will have to speed up this month. Cheers.

Thanks Tom. The matter with me is I'm losing it! This is my excuse for writing silly songs and making silly comments! Ha ha. Enjoyed your comment. Cheers.

Thanks Noel. You are always very supportive! Cheers.

This is simply a great song. I really love the paired down "band" - drums, bass, guitar, accordion - perfect!

I don't think it needs a solo. If you were to revisit it you might consider a modulation somewhere to a different key. (I've been waiting for the right song of mine to try a modulation out so it's been on my mind.)

much enjoyed!

Yeah I guess so Fred.
I have a horrible fear of writing the same song over and over with only minor changes each time so try to vary it a bit.
Cheers.
