I did this one to show Band-in-a-Box (BiaB) beginners what you can do with MIDI. BiaB did the entire song, backing tracks and lead line. I did very little tweaking to these parts. The sounds are from both the free ST2.5 that comes with BiaB and a $5 ST2 Mellotron purchase.

BiaB style - New Age Alberti Piano & Strings

I hope you like this quick and dirty for what it is.

Mario,

Thanks. That's a great example of what can MIDI can do. Nice piano, strings and mellotron sounds.

Have Fun!

Very cool tune Mario. Very pretty. I am also playing with the supermidi patches and the Hi-Q patches. There are some very cool tunes there.....

Nice melody Mario and a good intro to midi. Someday I`m going to
try getting into that side of BiaB.

Great demonstration Mario. You captured some really good sounds using all Midi.

Went to a restaurant last night where a young lady played keys, sang along with backing tracks programed with the keyboard and used an external harmonizer. She entertained everyone the whole night. High quality production just as you've done here.

A silly thought went through my mind at the very beginning of the song; Add some lyrics and a good female singer and YesterYear could be "Yesterday Once More". (Carpenters - 1973)

Enjoyed my listen.

Hi Mario,

As you've very clearly shown with this composition, BIAB has something for everyone! You've given a good insight into the versatility of the program.

All the best,

Mario,

Like so many of your tracks, this one sounds like it could be in a soundtrack from a movie. Very thoughtful sounding, and enjoyable to listen to. Like it has been said, it is a good representation of the midi abilities with BIAB. Thanks for sharing it!

Peter, thanx for listening and commenting. Actually this is an excellent example of what the MIDI side of BiaB can do right out of the box i.e. no pun intended. As stated I did very little tweaking on this song. It is 99.9% BiaB and that, IMHO, says a lot about this wonderful program.

Scott, Bob, Floyd, and PeterF, thanx for listening and commenting. I appreciate it.

Robert, IMHO anyone is using only RTs or only using MIDI is only using half of this very versatile program. If you every need help just ask.

Charlie, thanx for listening and commenting. These sounds come with BiaB. I rarely use them as I have better ones but on occasion I do use them in my mixes.

Video Track, Steve, and Noel thanx for listening and commenting. Like I said above anyone using only RTs or only using MIDI is only using half of this very versatile program.

Bob (rsdean) thanx but this is what I wrote Peter, As stated I did very little tweaking on this song. It is 99.9% BiaB and that, IMHO, says a lot about this wonderful program.

Other than occasional use of a midi super track midi is above my paygrade...but that doesn't keep me from appreciating how well you showcased the power of BiaB and midi.

Nice!

Great tune Mario. pretty and relaxing. As you all know I use mostly midi for my melodies and a lot of solos too. I always say that it's all int the VST's or whatever source of sounds one use. BIB does the heck of the job!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
