Take Me Away

I wrote and recorded this last night and this morning using BIAB. This was made for a listing on Songtradr looking for a song to accompany an epic road trip scene. They didn't have a specific genre in mind so I decided to do something in the Traditional American Rock style of Bob Seger.

Style: Shining Pop w/ Held Guitar
Key of E major
117 BPM

Real Tracks:
1255: Bass, Electric, Pop Shining
1264: Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Pop Shining
2535: Guitar, Electric, Held Chords
1259: Guitar, Electric Rhythm Pop Shining Rock
Real Drums: Praise Worship Shine

Other instruments:
Acoustic Guitar (x2)

Lyrics:
Heading out on the open road.
Ain't no telling where I might go.
Got a map and a tank full of gas.
Gotta get away. Get out of here fast.
I need a change of pace.
Let's find another place.

Oh yeah...

Hands on the wheel. Foot on the gas.
Nothing but blue skies looking out through the glass.
So many places that I want to see.
Wherever I go, that's where I'll be.
Got nothing holding me back.
Just pick a spot on the map.

and take me away. Take me away from here.
Don't even look in the rear view mirror.
Ain't no telling what this road might hold.
I need something to free my soul.
Take me away.

Don't need directions. Don't need a plan.
I might get lost and not know where I am.
To tell the truth that sounds alright to me
There's really no place that I have to be.
And If I run out of road
I'll make that place my new home

take me away. Take me away from here.
Don't even look in the rear view mirror.
Ain't no telling what this road might hold.
I need something to free my soul.
Take me away.

Yep, it has a Seger feel. I also thought of John Cougar Melloncamp!

This is one fantastic song. Great vocal, lyrics and backing tracks.

This is a keeper.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

You never fail to impress, Samuel smile I'm definitely getting those Bob Seger vibes on this one (definitely a good thing). This is the perfect tune to blast on a road trip and sing along to loudly with the windows down. Especially that chorus - dang, is it ever catchy!

Great work, and thanks so much for sharing smile

Found the opening piano chord sequence inviting...you sure are a guy with traveling on his mind...why don’t you get on the road already?!! You were clever to morph mirror into a pronunciation that rhymed with “here”—-good work on that! Thanks for sharing, but if you don’t hit the road soon, your music brain might explode!!

This sounds like it was such a fun project to do! The song has such a lovely sound to it, and I love how easy it is to listen to. It really reminded me of a road trip.

Thanks for sharing.

Cool song Samuel!! Great vibe. Some really cool lyrics as well. I particularly like these:

Hands on the wheel. Foot on the gas.
Nothing but blue skies looking out through the glass

That's just nice, tight writing. It would be a great opening pair. Vocal sounds really good. Enjoyed a lot!! Take care. Greg

A good song Sammy, nicely arranged and mixed. The vocal is terrific, delivered with urgency. The driving feel was great, and I loved how it was mixed nice and 'dry'.
On my headphones I found myself wanting to hear the bass a bit louder, to emphasise the frustration of the lyric, especially in the choruses where it ought to be doing eights all the way through them?

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
