I wrote and recorded this song yesterday for a weekly writing prompt on Facebook. I had lots of fun with the story line and like the way it turned out so I thought that I would share it here for everyone's enjoyment.

Siri's Lost Again

Style: Bluegrass Pop
Key of: G
BPM = 94

592:Bass, Acoustic Bluegrass Doc
598:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Bluegrass Doc
589:Banjo, Bluegrass Doc
599:Mandolin, Rhythm Bluegrass Doc

Lyrics (and disclaimer, lol) in link.

This song actually got a bit of a chuckle out of me. I'm kinda of curious what the exact prompt was now. Was it specifically about Siri not working properly? I can tell it had something to do with Siri or Apple, but your disclaimer makes me especially curious.

Thanks for sharing.

Actually the prompt had nothing to do with either one. The prompt was "The next right." I thought that it would be fun to do a directions song about getting lost via GPS (after all we've all been there and done that) and Siri is just fun to say lol.

Very clever (and contemporary) tune! Your backup vocals are always nice and tight and placed perfectly. And I liked how, on that last chorus, you compacted lines and gave it a real nice landing. Thanks for writing about those everyday problems!

Thanks Tano. I'm not sure what they call it in bluegrass or other forms of music but in barbershop music they call that last part a "tag." It kind of ties things up nicely.

I still can't play Musicoin on my iMac, my iPad or my iPhone. And it will not work via the net or a cellular connection. Plus I run all the latest software and OS updates on relatively new equipment. And I'm computer literate. I've talked to two "Apple friends" who have experienced the same issue - one is the CEO of a computer consulting firm. He's gonna see if one of this techs can figure it out. I know Joanne contacted them about the issue with apparently no good answers from them.

Just didn't want you think we were ignoring you.

Nice! Clever writing (rhyming too narrow with parked Camero for example), and a strong chorus.

Fun song, enjoyed!

I’m mostly a PC guy but I played it on my iPad after reading Buds comment, worked ok for me.

Sam, this song is awesome. Everything about it works. I have to ask...have you found anything your voice won't work for? It fits this (and everything else I've heard from you) so well. That's a gift brother.

Clever lyrics that ring true, catchy hooks, great vocals lead and background, love the arrangement AND you somehow broke the 3 minute barrier wink

I have to say the play off the sound and lyric verses the technology view was really nice too.

This song works. Love it.

I'm just curious why Janice and Bud haven't responded about the song. That strange... wink By the sounds of their post, you may have to expand the song to Apple products in general. There is a slight irony in they can't listen to a song about Siri not working right because they can't get their apple products to do it. Reprise? Lost 3rd verse?

Seriously though, truly great job Sam.

Thanks HTL. No, I haven't found many styles I can't do vocally.

As for Janice and Bud I sent them a Soundcloud link so hopefully they will get to listen to it if Siri allows lol.

Samuel,

A clever little song. Good fresh idea.

The folky-bluegrass treatment works well. Put together nicely.

A fun listen.

Thanks for the link. That's fun indeed. Now we are Apple folks for sure but we use google maps -- Ms. Google doesn't get as lost smile

We enjoyed it and, man, your rhymes are great!

Thanks Janice and Bud. I'm not an Apple person so I use Google Maps as well. It usually gets me where I want to go. While writing this though I was thinking back to my last trip to Tennessee when the GPS device we used said we were driving through the middle of a field as we were heading down the highway. Quite comical actually.

Samuel,

This is a clever song with great, topical and relatable lyrics. Good choices on the banjo and the arrangement throughout; and the “Siri’s lost again” hook sticks. Really nice work on this tune. Enjoyed my listen.

Oh, and by the way, thanks for your comments on my “Won’t Be Hard to Say Goodbye” tune. I felt odd bumping that one up again, but I didn’t want you to think I didn’t appreciate your feedback.

All the best,

Deej

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
