I love how in Band in a Box it can give me chord substitutions based on what chord I pick. However, I think it would be cool for Band in a Box to take that idea one step further and add a chord progression suggestion option. Just like with the chord substitution, where I take a chord I want to start with, see picture attached to the post, click option+D on Mac, and then select the chord substitution I want, I would instead like to see a chord progression substitution. With the chord progression substitution, instead of giving me a list of chords, I would just like to see the typical roman numerals and once selected the chord names would be displayed. This way, if you wanted to practice soloing using a certain type of chord progression, you to expand your musical creativity while learning some music theory, or just wanted to give your melody an interesting flavor, you could.
Computer: Macbook Pro, 16 inch 2021 DAWs: Pro Tools, Logic, and Maschine plays drums, percussion, bass, steel pan, keyboard, music producer/engineer
I like the idea but may I suggest two modifications? I would add a dropdown selection for the number of bars in the chord progression and a selection box to include, not include or use only slash chords.
I believe an appropriate length of a chord progression is somewhat dependent on the music style, time signature and song section (intro, verse, turnaround,etc.). So while 4 bars may be the right length most of the time 4 bars probably won't work all the time.
Bass progressions sometimes follow, don't follow or are independent of other instruments playing ina song.
And PLEASE make this modern and usable!!! Not hidden away in a modal dialog box that is hard to find and cumbersome to use!
Here is how to do this right,
Make it a popup right at the point of use. Make it totally interactive...no Windows dialogs or OK buttons. And set it up like this chord wheel so those of us who have not memorized the charts can easily get suggestions for chords in the current key as well as many variations by just clicking them and instantly hearing them!
This should be something that can pop up on any bar or 1/4 bar where a chord could go. Pop up, accept my inputs and play it, then disappear. But plop the new chord right there.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
