You know how you can input note in the grid mode? I would like to see a feature where when you placed a Midi instrument(I know what MIDI is), that was not the instrument your writting for, it would match the notes you inputed. I am manily focusing on bass instruments for example. Say your writting a horn riff for part of a song. I think there should be an easy way to have the bass part match the horn part.

I do this all the time in a DAW. You have written a horn part. Now copy it to the bass track, then lower it an octave or two or three until it will play in the bass register.
I have taken parts of a piano track, raised it an couple of octaves and put it in a harp track. i have changed many instruments this using this technique.
You can do a lot of this type of thing in a DAW that you can't do or easily can't do in BiaB.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

If you are doing it in BIAB, then you are presumably doing it on the Melody or Soloist tracks (since the other tracks get generated by the style, and the bass track will be style-dependent, not a copy of another track.
So, it seems to me that if you are entering a horn part on the melody track, just copy the track to the soloist track, assign a bass instrument to it, and lower the octaves accordingly. That is certainly doable in BIAB.
Clearly, this is MIDI only, as RealTracks won't track to each other in different octaves.

I use a DAW for anything complex, as Mario mentioned. But I very often make a notated bass line by MIDI on the BIAB Soloist track as John mentioned. Then I just use F5 to mute and unmute the Soloist track and the RealTrack bass track as appropriate, switching between them.

+1 for the idea.
Part of the issue is different midi patches handle instrument parts differently. For example, midi guitar or midi bass may or may not need to be transposed an octave to correctly playback. If you use different midi patches for the same instrument (in other words you may use an Amplesound acoustic guitar patch or a Realitone acoustic guitar patch) they might respond differently to the same midi information. Amplesound may require the midi data to be transposed while the Realitone does not.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
