I recently bought a new laptop (Win 10 64 bit) and installed BIAB 2017 (latest build). As the laptop does not have a line in, I bought a Behringer UCA222 interface to connect the Ketron SD2 to the laptop.
However the signal only gets a far as the Ketron.

The setup is as follows:

Casio keyboard -> Edirol UM1X interface ->Ketron -> Behringer UCA222 -> laptop

The Edirol has 1 DIN plug from the Casio and a second to the Ketron in, with a USB to the laptop. The Ketron has RCA out which connect to the input of the Behringer.
According to the manual, the Behringer does not need a driver - just plug & play.

Can anyone see what the problem may be?
I've spent over $100.00 on new interfaces, not to mention an expensive new laptop that I bought specifically to use BIAB.
Now it's just sitting in the corner, useless.
As you can imagine, I'm very frustrated, and any suggestions will be appreciated & tried.
TIA

I wonder if it is because this device is locked at 48kHz and BiaB requires 44.1

Have you tried the interface with Audacity or Traktion that came with it, or even RB can be set to 48kHz

Make your sound your own!
.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Edirol UM1X - Behringer UCA222 I have both those interfaces here somewhere.
When you set Windows to use the Behringer UCA222 do you get sound out of it's line out "OUTPUT" or Headphone jack ?
Right click the speaker icon > Playback Devices > set UCA222 as default.

As above, and be sure the output isn't muted there. When you disconnect the default audio device, Windows can do that.

I found the UCA222 and plugged it in, select USB Audio CODEC, if you use ASIO4ALL set Windows to the internal Audio Device first and have the Monitor switch On, on the UAC222.

Hi guys,
thank you all for your input. This is a great forum, full of helpful people who are ready to help.
I've progressed one step - I now have the signal as far as the Behringer, but that's where it stops.
I've been trying to get this to work for over a week now, so as you can imagine, I'm starting to get a bit crabby, so I've decided to put everything away until next weekend and try again with a fresh approach. I know it's something simple - probably a few settings, but when you're technically challenged, as I am, it's very frustrating.
Stay tuned - I'll be back!

(My needs are simple - all I wanna do is play my piano with my favrourite band - in a box. smile )

Keith

all windows based hardware needs a driver. plug and play simply means it will find the driver on it's own. Some still need you to get the driver onto the computer. The software is available from the manufacturers website.

Does the 222 use ASIO?

Regarding your comment that.... "I've spent over $100.00 on new interfaces" .... does this mean you have bought several, and the $100 is the combined total? The 222 sells for about $30. I'm a believer that generally, you get what you pay for. A $30 interface is a cheap interface. When I bought a laptop specifically for recording (as you seem to have done), I spent 10x the amount you did to get a really nice interface. It was close to $300 at the time and that was 12 years or more ago. Don't go cheap on the interface and then complain that it's not working right. I've helped a bunch of people in the Sonar forum many years ago and the majority of those assists were with folks who bought a cheap "interface" and were trying to get it working properly.

Seriously, I'm not busting on you..... but my recommendation would be to return the 222 for credit and get a focusrite.

If it helps, below is my (relatively) low-cost setup for connecting my equipment to my laptop, including a Ketron SD-2. Not extremely elegant, but it works.

I paid about $60.00 for the Behringer, and a further $50-$60 for an M-Audio interface as a back up for the Edirol UM-1X. (We get seriously ripped off over here). I thought that Behringer was a reputable brand, and not a bargain basement product. When I bought the Edirol UM-1X a number of years ago if was around the $40 mark, and worked fine, so I thought that $60.00 for the Behringer was reasonable.
Anyway, all that aside, I think the Behringer can use ASIO - I'll check that. Thanks again for your help, and Pipeline thaks for the download links and the screen dumps.

John - thank you also for your setup diagram. Are the two untis to the right of the silver Casio part of the M-Audio Fastrack, or are they separate interfaces?

Cheers,
Keith

The Emu X-MIDI 2x2 is a single unit, as is the M-Audio Fast Track Pro. The image depicts the front and back connections, which is why they appear as multiple units. This configuration allows for full MIDI in/out to/from both keyboards, as well as audio out from both keyboards. Either keyboard can drive the Ketron as long as the Ketron is set as the MIDI output device in whichever application I'm using. Audio from the Ketron then gets routed to the mixer which then comes back in through the Fast Track Pro to the computer for recording and out the speakers fur listening/monitoring.

SUCCESS!!!
I've finally got everything to work (in a fashion) but still a few minor problems.
I downloaded the ASIO drivers (thanks Pipeline) and ran a set of cables from the output of the Behringer to the input of the graphic equaliser and Voila .... sound!
Apart from the fact that I currently have a mass of spaghetti looking cables (I'm not game to touch them now that everything's working) I'm having a small problem with the font in BIAB. As I mentioned earlier, I copied BIAB from my old laptop to the new one, but when I tried to change the font I get a message saying "PG Music Font is not installed. Make sure PGMUS.TTF is in your Windows system directory at 00A3EBCD"
Can I locate & download this from the BIAB HD?

Finally, thanks John, Matt, Herb, Bob, Pipeline for helping me through this drama.

Once again, I'm a happy old piano player smile

Do a search for bbfonts.exe and pgdx_plug_2_0_0.exe in the bb folder and install them if you just copied the folder.
