How do I end a song on the 1st beat of a measure?
All instruments need to hit on 1st beat of measure and ring out.

You could do this with a held chord. Enter the chord on the last beat with an ellipsis following. E.g. if it ends on Eb, enter Eb...

I ended my recent song post in the User Showcase forum on the first beat of the last measure. It was the fifth of a series of 5 stops. I created a stop by placing two periods after the chord - d..,d..,|d..,d..||d.. Four stops in the first measure and the fifth stop on the first beat of the last measure. You can hear how it sounds ** Here **

How do I end a song on the 1st beat of a measure?
All instruments need to hit on 1st beat of measure and ring out. From the Help: Rests, Shots, and Holds
Rests - You can specify any, some, or all instruments to rest at any bar. For example, you could rest all instruments except the bass for the first 4 bars, and then add in the piano for 4 bars, and then add in the entire band for the rest of the song. You may optionally disable the rests in the middle or final choruses (where people are likely taking solos, and rests are not appropriate).
Shots - You can specify certain instruments play a "shot," where the chord is played and then a rest follows. For example the song "Rock Around The Clock" has a shot on beat 1 followed by a rest for seven beats.
Held chords - You can specify that certain instruments hold a chord sustained for a certain number of bars. For example, you can have the bass and piano hold a chord sustained while the drums continue to play a pattern
A chord can be specified as a Rest by adding a period after the chord.
A chord can be specified as a Shot by adding two periods after the chord.
A chord can be specified as a Held Chord by adding three periods after the chord.
If you want the chord to play on the first beat and then ring out, then probably a Held Chord would work for you.

In addition to the Held chord, make sure your song's length goes well beyond that last chord (Bar for End of Chorus, or the last bar of a Tag).
Turn off the automatic 2 or 4-bar ending.
One trick I do is to go many measures further on and put a 'stopper' chord in, like C. (C with one period after). This chord can be anything EXCEPT the chord being held.
Then I also silence the chord BIAB automatically places at the end of the song, by adding a single period to that, too.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
