Hey folks,

I'm using BIAB Version 2012 (350) for Windows and for the first time trying to use the Melody Maker feature.

Clicking on Melody(at the top of BIAB)>Melody Maker>Start a melodist file, it opens up a new window to save the new melodists file but a yellow error screen pops up stating "Invalid file name...no spaces allowed".

That is using my custom name (without spaces) as well as the default "NoName" file title.

Is this a known bug with this earlier version of BIAB and has it been squashed with later updates?

Thanks for any help that you may provide.

Hi Keebo,

As far as I'm aware, the Melody Maker has been around a long long time. I'd be surprised if there was a bug in BIAB 2012. That being said, it's possible. Have you tried doing a factory reset?

Regards,
Noel

P.S. I just tried it out on my BIAB 2013 and it works fine.

What is the specific string that you are trying to use as a filename?

There may be other characters besides spaces that get rejected, but the error message only mentions spaces.

Try a different name that only has alpha characters to test this.

Noel, I haven't tried a factory reset yet but that may be the answer.

Mac, only alpha characters were used including the default NoName file name.

Thanks for the help, guys.
