trying to record something for the users track on my guitar. I bought a usb cord 1/4 jack on the other in what do I need to do to record or even get sound out of it. I'm sure its simple. any Idea'a

Unless the cord has a converter like this one:

It will not let you record.

Once the interface's software is installed, BIAB or RealBand is all you need to record. Just point the recording program to the interface.

In BIAB 2013 that is done from the Opt. menu.

Click on the [Opt.] menu and select "Midi/Audio setup". In that dialog box, select your interface and you can start recording.

The process is very similar in RealBand and most other DAWs.
