If you are tired of browsing through drives and sub directories to Save, Open or add a VST just make a folder on the Desktop eg: "A Locations" ("A") will put it up the top.
Just right click on the folder or drive to create your shortcuts and drag them in:







If you want an even quicker way, add them to the Places Bar (on the Left) without having to edit the Registry you can use
PlacesBar Tweaker
or
PlacesBar Editor

When I want songs, folders etc to be at the top of a list, my trick is to use _ (underscore) <ie> _Song xx or _Folder xx.
