I was excited to try out the new strings real tracks #2370 (SW) & 2369 (EV). What a disappointment! The former punches beat one and the latter screeches. Anyone having similar reaction? The previous alternative was #2335 (string quartet), which sounds high pitched to me and isn't swing feel. I'm left with the dreary sounding viola (#2336). Bummer.

Hi Alistair,

As a comparison, go into Stylepicker, scroll down the "Categaory" window until you find "RT 213". Select that and a list of styles associated with the RT set will appear.

From the style list, double-click on "_SWPOPSTR". If you have a look in the 'Memo' listing to the right of the styles, you can see that this contains #2370.

Double-clicking on this style will start the demo and you'll be able to hear if this is how the strings sound when you load them.

Regards,
Noel
There are string quartets available, and those aren't the ones you're listening to. 2369 and 2370 are string sections. If it is that you're looking for, you can try the MIDI SuperTracks version 2060 (Even) and 2061 (Swing), with the MIDI ones you can choose any string patch that you have, to change the timbre.

But I think the string ** quartets ** may be what you have in mind. Those are available in the 49 pak. (cello, viola, violin, violin)

Here are the string quartets:

The even string quartet (2508)

the bouncy swing string quartet (2451)

Thanks, Noel. #2370 sounds OK in the demo, but when I add it to a swing standard, it doesn't jive.
Thanks, Peter. Midi SuperTrack #2061 works pretty well, but I really like the string selections in the 49 Pak. I hadn't opted to buy that when I upgraded to BIAB 2015, but now I will. Thanks for pointing that out to me.(The bouncy swing string quartet is a little too bouncy for me. Maybe good for Eleanor Rigby.)
Cheers!
