I'm playing my keyboard on thru channel with a backing track. I record MIDI and the result assigns vibes to play the notes I played on my keyboard. How do I cause my piano (I use coyote wave table) to be used for melody track? I can see in the notation window that the vibes are assigned to the melody trackslot, but don't see how to change it to piano.
tnx
Mark,

What version of BIAB do you have?

In the meantime.... if you have 2016, try right-clicking on the Melody track and then selecting "Select MIDI Patch"

Regards,
Noel
If Noel's suggestion doesn't work, try opening the Sequencer and change the patch there. Use the 'Open Sequencer on Melody Track' button.

BIAB 2016 build 431
I'm not bad at piano, but not good at BIAB, so bear with me. I tried right clicking on the word "Melody" in the mixer window, and I get a little prompt that allows me to change the word melody but nothing else. So I went into notation window and tried right clicking on the square button with an M in it that represents the melody tracklist but nothing happens. So I guess I'm not sure what it means to right click on melody track.
tnx

This worked, thanks. Is there an easier way to accomplish what I'm trying to do? I want to have a recording of myself playing keyboard along with backing tracks. I could put my tape recorder in the middle of the room and record what comes out of the stereo speakers, or connect to line out on amplifier. But I'd like to generate either a wav or mp3 from BAIB so the sound is better. I figured out how to save as a wav file, and you've helped solve the last piece of the puzzle getting melody track changed. Is there some "global" setting to cause acoustic piano to always be assigned to melody track, so I don't need to go into sequencer each time I make a recording? Or is there some totally easier way to do what I'm trying to accomplish?
thanks

Mark,

Try clicking on the Melody track on the upper menu (not the track's name in the mixer). This track name sits above the Prefs icon. You could also right-click on the window that gives sound/track names in the mixer (this is the strip window immediately below the volume slider).

I've highlighted these areas in red on the image below.

Noel

Yes. Follow Noel's instructions from the image he posted. It will give you fast access to change the patch.

Thanks Noel, that did it. The picture was a great help, I'm still learning what everything is called.

Don't worry, Mark. All of us on here were learners at some stage!
Hi first time in the forums.

I used BIAB many years before. So I'm checking out a style and I just want to change the instrument. Say I want a piano to play the Bass part. I assumed it would be super simple. Old BiaB had a little dialog box on the upper left that said "instrument" and named it. Now I see all these things in the mixer but when I click to change instruments there's a million things in the drop down list and i dont' know where to start? I tried changing the midi patch to a piano, for example, and had no luck.

Really I want to hook up SampleTank3 and maybe try 20 different basses or pianos for a given part. I hope it's not going to be an ordeal every time? Changing styles are simple enough; I would hope changing instruments would be just as easy.

That said, I have JBridge, Sampletank3, and Biab, and try as I might I can't get BIAB to recognize the updated dll file. Say's it's not a valid 32bit VST. But all this is a whole separate subject!

Hi and welcome to the forum,

You may find you get more responses by starting a new thread with each thread having it's own question. It becomes very difficult to manage questions and responseswhen they are all bundled together.

When you installed jBridge, did you install the latest registered version that gets sent to you via email by requesting it at the jBridge site?

Also, when you install jBridge, do so by right clicking and installing as administrator. Likewise, I would recommend running BIAB as administrator as well.

Once you do that, BIAB recognizes whether it's a 64-bit or 32-bit plugin and uses jBridge for 64-bit or handles it natively for 32-bit.

Welcome to the forums. Presumably you are now using the 2016 version?

Yeah Jim thanks, I was just adding that as a side note. I didn't want to start a new thread though for just changing an instrument in a style, which I still can't figure out. Even if it's just to another stock instrument.

Anyway, I'm going to just start going through all the videos.

Yeah jford thanks, it's the registered version, and redid it all with your suggestions. I can now go to the plugins and have SampleTank appear, so that's great. But I can't seem to generate any actual sounds.

And of course I'm still unsure how to change instruments for the styles, be they VST or not.

I'm going to start going through the videos.

I've been very frustrated that all the DAWS I've tried don't use a simple way to sequence chords into a song like BiaB. I'm pleased that BiaB seems initially much better than before; at least the stock styles coming through the stock instruments are pretty good, whereas in the past they weren't. I also found the whatever way to create custom styles in the past was really hard for me, so hoping I can get my head around it in this version.

sorry more off topic, but I think my ultimate work flow is to use BIAB to lay out a song. I'd use it's styles but sometimes either mix parts from styles or create my own parts for styles too. Then once I got it where I want I'd take it to a DAW to more customize it; add any audio tracks etc.. I've no idea though; I may be able to do a lot more with BiaB than I thought.
