If you record midi starting on bar 20 and you want to try a new take, you can choose the option "take again". Sadly, it suggests starting on the wrong bar: not start again on bar 20, as "take again" suggests, but on the bar you stopped recording. Meaning it doesn't remember where your failed recording started.
It doesn't store info about the starting bar for later use. Database error?

Agree, it should by default fall back to the starting bar of the original recording session.
