If you load _80MPBBP then load the demo song for it (or something the same length and tempo), see how long your Drag to WAV render takes.

I tried the same as you and had a result of 32 seconds (I think yours was about 10 seconds longer).

Thanks, you would think if it only has to write direct from ram it would be a lot quicker than that ??

If I create a ram drive as a virtual drive, a wav file writes instantly from the drive to the hard drive, so not sure why BB can't do the same ????

In the pic it is copying from bb drag folder to the Ram drive, then it writes it from the Ram drive to a hard drive folder.

37 seconds - But a 2nd render immediately after the first took only 15 seconds.

A few seconds would be good otherwise it takes too long to drag the tracks in the DAW.

Yes, now that you mention it, this does "appear" to have increased over the years. Maybe with 2017 or one of the updates?? Now a days, I just go get a cup of coffee and when I come back it is good to go.

This is a very interesting approach Pipeline. Recently doubled the Gb in my machine and have been thinking about setting up a RAM drive myself. Any pointers?

I just used Softperfect RAM Disk to try writing from ram to hard drive.

Thanks Pipeline, good info. Here is a link to some benchmarked RAM disk performance tests.

All these problems simply go away by having a SSD.

Best investment ever in any computer system, period!

How much are 2T ones to fit the Audiophile version ?
Posted By: AudioTrack Re: Biab Drag Render Times - 10/22/17 06:45 AM
Actually I run 2Tb SSD's.

They're fast. But in the case of this particular render, they didn't make much difference.

Yes, as it don't need to read from the SSD but RAM to render the wav, you could understand generating the tracks up it should be faster.
