Im using WIn7. Since downloading 468 the familiar BB logo doesnt appear on front screen. It goes straight to the chord sheet. Anyone else get this?
Just note - I dl'd it twice to make sure. I also went back to 462 and the logo appears as it shoudl on start up. Going up to 468 and its gone!

Wendy, well observed.
Yes, there's no splash screen on my setup also.
Ah, I'll sleep well VT! Thanks sir.
"Splash Screen"? I'll remember that.
WendyM
I'll pop a note to Supprt
Hi
I noticed the lack of the splash screen and a general slowness not there before so I went back to 467 and everything I use is back running better
This begs two questions -
1. Poor testing regime
2, Why didn't PG Music post on the forum that due to issues they had decided to withdraw 468 - they are usually so good at communication
After all there are too many expert eyes to avoid detection and in the past we have had rapid issues of a corrected update I have not seen a withdrawal before

I can't make excuses for the lack of a splash screen, but I can easily understand how it can occur.
When developing and rigorously testing software, it's possible to use 'special build directives' that bypass some unnecessary features so that the software can launch and the tests can be conducted more quickly.
One of the obvious items is to bypass unnecessary items like the splash screen.
Perhaps such a build directive was incorporated, and then accidentally not removed when the version was released.
If this is the case, it's no big deal in terms of operations, but has been witnessed by the users, and reported because it is unexpected. Which is all good.
Just my take on it and I could be totally incorrect.

Hi VT
Thanks for your take on this issue of slash screen which in the scheme of things very minor - it was the slowness in certain areas I was more concerned with
However if the splash screen on/off was as simple as you say why didn't they issue a quick 468/2 or 469 update rather than pull 468 without explanation
PG Music is the best company I have dealt with over the last 20 odd years and this is rare

Hi Jazzman NOT PULLED
468 is still available as the first item at the top of this forum (biab for Windows)
This is the normal place for new builds before they move into the main downloads after a while testing .
Normally it says considered a beta
Mike
Its been a week with no confirmation from PGMusic, so I guess I am going to download, install and see if I have a problem. I'll get back to ya this weekend.
There's no splash logo alright, but for me it loads in less than three seconds.
Putting it through its paces, I don't perceive any slowness at all, on the contrary, it feels faster to load and in Real Tracks rendition.
It's a November 2015 Toshiba i7, 2.5Ghz laptop, with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB SSD, on Windos 10, so not quite the speed demon, so to speak.
HTH,
Yes, 468 seemed to work well.
It should be noted, in response to the comment about why the testing didn't pick it up, that it worked OK in testing. The lack of the splash screen wasn't noticed until the public release version.
Hi Everyone - 468 has been removed for now... thank you to everyone who reported their problems with this build!
Another patch will be available soon.
Hi Mike
It was pulled from the Support section but they did not remove 468 reference - when you clicked on it only gave the choice of 467
Now even that has now been corrected because of our query
jazzman
This is a strange one because other users have noticed slowness in certain areas as well
If the problem was only the splash screen why have they pulled it
As soon as I went back to 467 it went back to a good feel
One example is loading, in 468 was around 3 seconds now its back to 1.7
There must be individual set up differences
Still its been reported - acknowledged and a new patch is on its way

All good points, Brian. Build 468 seemed to work fine and and is working fine for me now; the only complaint I read was some slowdowns reported by some users.
Hi Matt
Thanks for your comments and I agree that 468 seemed to work fine (although during the brief spell I didn't not try everything) except for slowness in a few areas - its the sort of thing you feel when using bb every day
My curiosity queried the point that if everything was ok with 468 and the splash screen omission was minor why not issue a 469 update as opposed to an unusual 468 withdrawal
Not complaining just stating reality as they happened to me which was not a rushed reply but one, as an ex-beta tester, after I applied all the basic tests to the computer and program to make sure no errors/faulty installations had crept in
Your considered and always helpful replies are greatly appreciated here and I am still so grateful for your post on the benefits of adjusting - Pan - Reverb and especially Tone - a major improvement

Hi Everyone - 468 has been removed for now... thank you to everyone who reported their problems with this build!
Another patch will be available soon.
So should we revert back to 467?
If 468 is working fine, leave it installed. If things are not working as expected, though, then revert to 467. (Simply download from the Support site and reinstall.)
Hi Mike
At the time we posted we were both correct and it seems that PG Music forgot the cancel the notification in the Forums page
It was pulled - acknowledged and a new patch is on it;s way
In my twenty odd years as a user I have always considered the Forums section to be one of discussion and notification and the Support section to be where all the final updates are found
I agree though that this event is rather strange
I tested between 467 and 468 at least 5 times and on my set up 468 was consistently slower in several areas - as previously stated I went back to 467 for better results on the functions I was using
Lets hope the 469 or other patch number is better for all of us
jazzman
Major change after installing this update - message appeared after no logo startup stating Coyote Forte not licensed. Inserted license number and restarted. Appears ok now.
Hi all
Well I have gone back to 467 but not without problems now solved, but odd.
When I first went to 468 the first time I ran it I got a notice saying my soft synth was not available or in use.
As this was not the case, I shut down BIAB and ran Realband.
This got up and ran fine using the same soft synth (coolsoft)
Closed Realband reopened Biab now fine no probs noticed except for logo missing.
Softsynth available and running.
Due to the reported probs. with 468 I decided to revert to 467 anyway .
On re installing 467 I had the same message on first run no soft synth or in use.
Again I closed Biab, and ran Realband, then closed Realband and ran Biab .
Every thing fine again.
Very odd, be interesting what 469 does on its first run!
Sure it will be fine.
Mike
Hi Garth
+1 - forgot about that one
jazzman
I suspect that given the concerns raised here, the PG Team are working hard and a resolution to the splash screen and all the other 468 problems will hopefully be available sometime very soon.
Let's all stay tuned
Hi
469 is working fine here so far on the normal features I use
Generation and auditioning speed quick and back to previous levels and of course the much missed splash screen
Well done PG Music team
